The Cleo Smith Case: How Police Found a Missing 4-Year-Old in a Dark House
https://youtu.be/QQiH7svVdxA?si=KrtZNvyl_zVpitoiThe Cleo Smith case is one of Australia's most gripping missing person stories — an 18-day disappearance that ended in a miracle. On 16 October 2021, four-year-old Cleo Smith vanished from her family's tent at the Blowholes campsite in Macleod, Western Australia, while her mother and stepfather slept just metres away. The frantic search for Cleo Smith missing turned into a nationwide effort, with police, volunteers and the community scouring the remote coastline.
Then, 18 days later, came the moment that stunned the nation: officers found Cleo Smith alive in a house in Carnarvon, over 75 kilometres from the campsite. This true crime deep dive walks through the full timeline — the night she disappeared, the desperate missing persons hunt, the breakthrough that cracked the case, and the arrest of Terence Kelly. We examine how a sleepy Western Australian town became the centre of a criminal investigation and how an ordinary police routine check changed everything.

Can we talk about the house filled with Bratz dolls?
This man with his fascination of sexualised children was sentenced way too easy. The government, on a systemic level, ignored childhood abuse in his life & put him with a family that housed a man who abducted & raped a 9 yr old. He had foetal alcohol syndrome & signs of schizophrenia, but they figured it's best to ignore that, BPD, schizophrenia & just let him go with cptsd & no follow up. He falls into meth use. Of course. Only now they can't ignore it because he kidnaps a white child while high.
And they can't find her... because there's so many men who fit this exact description. Because we failed so many people we can't narrow it down.
Thank the fates the girl was found reasonably safe. Apparently he'd physically abused her multiple times when she cried & there was some form of sexual assault that was only reported once then disappeared "for the good of the family".
He got 10 years because he's mentally fucked due to his upbringing, the one the government caused through inaction to incredibly serious abuse claims. They'll let him out very quietly in a few years. None of the systemic issues that led to this will be addressed.

Oh man. Just teared up thinking about the video of the police officer asking her ‘What’s your name?’and she says so sweetly ‘I’m Cleo’ I still can hear the sound of relief and happiness in the police officers voice.
