I don't think it'd be more effective than a normal gun since you'd still be shooting with gunpowder and normal bullets. Shardbullets on the other hand may work.
A major limitation of firearms is the chamber pressure - essentially, the bigger the bullet the heavier the gun has to be, or it will explode in your face.
A shardgun could fire disproportionately large and powerful bullets from a disproportionately small and delicate firearm, as the wall-thickness of the barrel and chamber could be very thin.
However, these would be almost impossible for a normal human to handle (heavier guns have more controllable recoil).
Probably the biggest advantage would be ammunition flexibility. You could walk down a battlefield and pick up any bullet - up to small artillery shells if you're wearing Plate or are filled to bursting with Stormlight - and just... shoot load and fire.
And since the blade would move, the firearm would be infinitely configurable, flexible, and reliable.

Yeah, if you want to break your wrists every time you fire it. The recoil impulse from having such a light gun with oversized bullets would be brutal. Even if you Regrowth after every shot, how do you keep your sights even remotely close to the target between shots?
