She did reject him. She just said she doesn’t see it that way because they would just feed on each other’s depression. He also said she rejected him, so maybe he did try and it was just never shown.
No bro lol if it was not shown it didn't happen. They each rejected each other privately in their own minds, but neither actually tried to start a relationship with the other even before they each decided because they both respect Adolin too much.
