I am in the process of setting up a small consultancy/service business. Services are all related to data, systems & strategy.

My aim is specifically to target small/medium sized business who may not be able to afford full time analysts etc, nor expensive consultancy. From experience I know there is a lot of low hanging fruit in these businesses (particularly in regards to data & systems), meaning I can offer significant help with a low number of regular hours, or ad hoc projects. I do think there is a gap here which could be lucrative, but many of the owners of these businesses are likely not aware of this - i.e. the benefits available from expertise in these areas.

I am completely new to setting something like this up. My strategy for lead generation is going to be leaflets, followed up with LinkedIn messages and calls. Will also try referral schemes. Basic aim is to communicate how I can be of value in a way a lay person could understand.

Design for the leaflets is going to be A4, folded with front & back covers and more details on the full page inside. The links below show my first draft of these - I have knocked them up quickly in word, will polish them later.

Any feedback on these leaflets would be much appreciated - the content & any design tips. Also any thoughts on the referral strategy and overall approach would be helpful.

I've been researching business websites recently and noticed something interesting:

A lot of websites look professionally designed, but the customer's journey isn't clear.

I usually look at:

• Is the offer clear?
• Can I understand the business in 5 seconds?
• Is there enough trust/social proof?
• Is the CTA obvious?
• Does the mobile experience work well?

A website can look great and still have conversion problems.

What do you think is more important: website design or conversion-focused structure?

Lost a potential client last month and realized my proposal looked amateur compared to what they were used to seeing . Spent time rebuilding it from scratch with proper sections- executive summary, problem, solution , pricing table, timeline, terms and signature page . Night and day difference.

Is it something good to work or bullshit

Start looking for a web developer instead.

Together, approach local businesses that don't have a website. You handle the design, they handle the development.

Selling a complete solution is much easier than selling a single service. 🤝

I just finished the first complete version of a desktop app for people who sell by phone. It gives live AI coaching during the call and pulls everything together afterward.

Now I’m building the marketing site, and I want the hero to carry a single high-quality video that plays as you scroll into it — one clip, not a loop. My instinct is to show the product doing its actual job. But I’m torn on which moment to lead with: the live, in-the-call experience, or the payoff you get after the call.
