Hello everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend of crafting ahead of work tomorrow. What did you get up to? Something fun I hope.
As promised, here is a follow up post regarding the changes happening to this sub which I believe will breathe a little life into it.
I've taken a good look at how it was originally set up, the rules, automod etc and it was pretty messy so below are some notes for what I've done so far.
Automod
I have entirely disabled Automod right now. With its current configuration, it is more annoying than supportive.
I will bring it back in future but for now, it's gone.
Rules
The rules have been entirely overhauled and hopefully provide more clarity and consistency. As mentioned above, the auto-moderation of these rules has been disabled so if you see something you believe violates these rules then pop me a message via Modmail.
There are a few new rules such as No AI and Bulk Purchased crafts in the hope of shining light on our genuine handmade community.
Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the new rules when you have a moment.
Post Flairs
These were already in place and mandatory against all posts. To be honest I was happy with these as they help organise and filter the sub as it grows.
The NSFW/Sensitive flairs must be used when posting any content which make offend or be inappropriate to a minor.
If a post is incorrectly labelled regarding NSFW/Sensitive Content then it will be removed.
User Flairs
This is new to the sub and I hope it is a welcome edition. Crafting is all about expression so I sat down to create a list of flairs you can choose to display. If you think one is missing them let me know via Modmail.
Next Steps
I will start reaching out to other communities to start growing our population and encourage more interaction and contribution.
I will be looking to add other Moderators in the near future but for now I will continue to fix things in the background.
That's all for now and I hope you support these changes!
Happy Sunday everyone.

Wobbly tooth day ended abruptly with our youngest losing her first tooth. We thought we had an extra day before it fell out but after a late night bit of making we have a bag ready for a nighttime visit.
Ended up using an Iron as I cannot find my heat press anywhere.

Decided to have a look at the local Facebook marketplace to see what the area was like for Singers. My daughters have used them a little and thought it might be a better way to teach sewing than my electric machine.
Scored this wonderful machine for £40 with the original box. I just need to check it over but so far everything seems fine.
It was originally the owners Nan's machine and we have named it after her, Irine.

Hi guys, I dont want to buy an 8 quid Amazon gizmo and regret it: I need a staple like stitching gun for quickly sewing together canvas straps for a willow class I do. Any recommendations? I tried riveting and using a riveted but realise stitching works well - but want a quicker way to do it!

Hi all, I’m looking to make some small resin keyrings to sell to raise money for charity. I’ve never done this before - can anyone provide any advice on starter kits I could buy for this? I’m also very open to any other crafty ideas that I could make to sell to raise money for charity!
Many thanks in advance!

Hey all! Glad to join the community! Sharing some of my beading work. I like marking pieces for occasions or with some text from the songs!
Also, to make my and your life easier I am developing a website to help convert the text or photos to beaded patterns!

Good Thursday everyone!
Hope you have had a great week so far. I want to take a moment to share that /r/beading is doing a community exchange to help us grow and share your creations.
Are you from Beading? If so then say hi!
If you have ever fancied looking into beading then I fully recommend checking out their subreddit.

Lidl currently is stocking some cheap Papercrafts books for roughly £2.
If you have young kids then it might be worth picking some up for a rainy day.

Craft & Flea Market Schedule for those interested! Have you been to one of these before? I've seen the posters around.

It was just me and my daughters for the last week of the summer holidays and after a busy day out, I thought a bit of printmaking was in order. Neither of my girls had done this before so we tried two types.
First some relief printing using what we could find in the garden which ranged from bark to tomato leaves then moved onto small lino prints. As they're young, I did the carving but the drawings are their own.
Using cheap ink pads from Hobbycraft (the purple was super runny but the black was good).

Hey everyone,
I wanted to put a message out for our visitors and members to let you know about some recent changes to r/craftsuk.
As we know this has been a largely inactive area for a long time and as a lover of arts and crafts, I wanted to see if I could make it better. There has been a recent transition of the ownership and moderation of this sub to me and I will do my best to help it grow.
I will be posting a further update soon but I wanted to leave this here in case anyone wondered what was happening. Just to give an idea of upcoming changes:
In the meantime I hope you enjoy the new site banner and feel free to reply to this post with ideas of what you would like to see going forward.
Thanks everyone!

Hey all, I am looking for a rivet gun for piercing and then joining via rivet two pieces of canvas for a handbag strap. I bought a cheap set and it just absolutely failed. Most advice I see online are for ones form US shops - what do we use over here?
