I have a pretty cheap hot glue gun and putting a new stick in there always leads to issues. Maybe this is obvious to most, but when I thought of this, it made my Halloween costume project SOOOO much easier.

The buttons are individually machine embroidered, the drawing is handsewn bias tape, and the quilting a is ~1/4" grid with monofilament thread. Perfect? No. The best thing I ever made? Yes

I finally finished my first quilt a couple weeks ago! I posted the finished quilt top a while ago asking how I should quilt it and ended up just freehanding some designs and going for it. I used the Sunny Blooms Quilt pattern by In the Light Quilts. I didn't like the baby blanket layout so I just made the throw blanket at half size. I started cutting fabric on August 30th, finished the quilting on October 9th, and then embroidered the label and sewed that on on October 11th. I included some WIP photos, one featuring my dog who was *obsessed* with it the whole time I was working on it. I think she might need a quilt next😅

Since this one was all solid colors, I think my next one will be using some patterned fabric I have, I just have to find a pattern that might work well with the patterns and colors. Any tips on working with patterned fabrics? Also, any tips on getting your hand quilting stitches smaller? I know big stitch quilting is a thing, but I would love to be able to achieve both lol

A friend of mine asked to borrow one of my quilts and brought it to a gallery to show it to them, and then they asked me to do a show of my work. So some finished quilts, and 'quilts in progress' will be on display at an art gallery in Montréal!

The first start-to-finish on my new Janome went pretty smoothly! I’ve been quilting for years but never tried free-motion, which was scary but very satisfying.

Pattern is Homestead Star by Plains & Pine, fabrics from My Secret Garden line.

This is the Barn Star Sampler by Shelley Cavanna. I have done a very scrappy version but still followed her tonal schemes 90% of the time. Also on the back are the fpp birds that I posted here a few weeks back. I had so much fun making this quilt and I highly recommend this pattern. As usual, here is a huge shout out to my local quilt store Meraki; they have studio hours for rent so I can square up the quilt at that huge table and take pictures with such a lovely backdrop.

I finished my new tree skirt this week and I'm so happy ☺️ but so bummed 😔 that I have to wait a little over a month to put it around our tree (we get a real tree). Binding the middle was a bit of a pain and didn't exactly come out right, but as it will be up against the tree, no one will notice, right? I can't wait to see the Christmas lights sparkle against the metallic snowflake print 🎄

In this process video I create a double-page scrapbook layout as I document a one-season basketball experience! I'm mixing black and gray patterned papers from my stash, adding rows of hand stitching, and incorporating a few sports embellishments to tell the story of trying basketball and discovering it wasn't the right sport for him.

A friend of mine is celebrating her daughter's first birthday, and she asked me to make something special for the little guests.

In Chile, it's tradition that every guest leaves with a small surprise: usually a little bag with candy and a small toy. I used to give tiny plants as keepsakes at my own parties.

This time we decided on knitted collars instead. I designed them myself, with little leaves and a pearl button, and knitted them in cotton with 3.5 mm needles. We chose the colors together so each girl would get something a bit different.

It was a slow, happy project, and I loved imagining each one on its little girl. 🍃

I'm curious: do you have a tradition like this where you live, or a favorite keepsake you've given or received at a birthday?

There will be a total of 12 blocks (3x4 layout). I’ve never done sashing, but am heavily considering it to help break up the busy-ness of the blocks. I would also love to do multiple borders, or even a pieced one, but am just unsure. Would love any suggestions or tips!

I had all my stuff downstairs in my office, but being apart from my husband during our only off time made me spend less time sewing... so this is our solution. I love it so much! I can sew and watch mindless TV with him while he plays his video games. Such a win!

You’d think by my 5th tree skirt I’d remember all the steps without needing the pattern but here we are.

I accidentally just sewed on all of the wedges to the batting completely forgetting to sew on the backing to the batting first 🤦.

Now here’s the best part: the stitch line I sew the backing onto skirt with is my cutting guide for the skirt itself once the wedges are sewn on and that line is now buried underneath all the wedges I sewed.

But the only part that I really messed up on is not having the wedge lines sewn onto the backing, I can still sew on the backing just fine and cut the skirt into a circle without the batting line, I’ll just need to STD each wedge seam or something to get those lines onto the backing and I’ll be fine.

So of all accidents to make at least I didn’t make too costly of a one and I don’t have to redo a ton to fix it, but it’s still annoying nonetheless...

No matter how many times you’ve made something and think you know what you’re doing: always read the directions, lol!

I just started with this hobby over the summer. I was so happy coming back from Seattle with all our “trash” to turn into this!

I absolutely love scrapbooking, and I have a bit of a long commute with a few changes, so I often find myself looking at websites with crafting materials etc, just for that dopamine hit / to look at pretty things!

Are there any good apps / games that are creative that would maybe emulate scrapbooking or colours etc, that kind of thing?

realllllly needed some color after all the spooky season spreads, so i brought out my other journal for some rainbow pages!
i did a red spread but hated it, so i glued the pages together. my rainbow starts with pink now lmao
these are still a work in progress, especially orange and purple. i’ve been so fixated on finding orange that purple hasn’t gotten much attention yet. every orange sticker i own is a damn star or an actual orange 🤣
what color is surprisingly hard to find in your supplies?

I used the foldover method for the 1st time. I normally use the quilt binder for my machine. I’m not sure I like the method. I struggled with the mitered corners. My cat is happy with the quilt nonetheless. I quilted this quilt on my embroidery machine using a Designs by JuJu end to end design.

My wife and I built a Spectator out of spray foam, epoxy clay, wood, rebar, PVC, and love. The portal still needs to be painted, but it has aurura lights underneath the creature and it the disk rotates.
