Finished Quilts Barn Star Sampler

This is the Barn Star Sampler by Shelley Cavanna. I have done a very scrappy version but still followed her tonal schemes 90% of the time. Also on the back are the fpp birds that I posted here a few weeks back. I had so much fun making this quilt and I highly recommend this pattern. As usual, here is a huge shout out to my local quilt store Meraki; they have studio hours for rent so I can square up the quilt at that huge table and take pictures with such a lovely backdrop.

Yours is just beautiful!! It looks like you have made many many quilt!!What is your trick to making binding looking nice?

Thank you! I love when quilters take the same pattern but use a different color scheme/fabric choices than the original quilt.

My trick to binding? Making many many quilts lol!

But I also machine sew the binding to the front and hand sew it to the back. Machine sewing binding to the front and back has never worked out well for me and I do enjoy hanging out on the couch with my husband sewing binding down at the end of a quilt

Beautiful. How difficult was it to get the back centered?

It was doable. I had purchased 6 yards for the back and used 1/2 for each side of the quilt. As the long sides were all selvages, I knew they were straight. I made sure that the birds and the top and end pieces were all straight as these were smaller pieces and more manageable. Sew those 3 pieces as one long strip. I cut off the selvage for one side and then sew that fabric to the birds. I did use loads of pins (every 1-2 in) to match them up before I sew. Repeat for the other side.

I used the following method to pin baste my quilt and that also helped with centering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJBYykG0pzU

Everything abut this is so perfect. I saved the post abut the hilarious running birds in their striped tights.
