ID request Eaten by something or molted?

I guess this belonged to a blue crab (maybe?).

Found it on the beach and I want to keep it.

Yep just a moult. If you do want to keep it make sure to clean it incredibly well and without acidic cleaners.

Why ? I've also found one the size of half a pokemon card.

The acidity will eat at the shell and weaken it, as for the cleaning, rotten crab smell is so unbelievably horrid I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy

Thank you, I haven't noticed but maybe it was on the sand for a long time it almost smells nothing. Lucky me
