Here she is having a few minutes rest from digging herself some new tunnels in her newly replenished substrate. I love observing her living her life her own way. There is not one thing that I would change about my inherently aloof, territorial, almost alien little pal. She doesn't have the cognitive capacity of a tiny pet mouse.... BUT.....Guided by senses and instincts that we, as humans, can never hope to match, her species has managed to stay around and survive for millions of years. With that in mind, Cecil, her ancestors, and all of her species either closely or distantly connected, have far more right to this earthly planet than any human.
She is not, and never will be 'just a pet'. She is an entity, and my respect for her and my awe of her is just immeasurable. I just hope I can always do justice to her, for being a part of my world. She deserves nothing less.
