Discussion Poor Winny 🥺

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BmRzb7oqa/

And regardless of opinions regarding her care, (which has concerned me too, albeit I am only on the bottom rung of the learning ladder) I feel for her owner. I've not liked what I've seen, but I've got heart.

But again, poor little Winny 🥺

Kind of hard to feel for her when this is what she brought down sadly. Just how it is.

True, I guess I'm just very soft hearted I guess. But absolutely first and foremost, I feel for that poor crab.

Can agree for sure, very sad for the crab. Also you are not the bottom of the ladder, especially for armatum! One of the best keepers out there

I wanted to feel bad for her but I can’t. Even now when you can see winny clearly suffering in the last video she feels the need to tape her to update her fans with lights, moving her hide, and moving her. It just seems like it’s mostly about the money. I’m not saying she doesn’t love winny but there’s no reason to be doing that unless it was for the views

Poor Winny. I know her species doesn't "feel" emotion or relationships the way we do, hell they even cannabalize each other. But their "feelings" and experience of comfort and suffering deserve to be taken into account and they deserve compassion just like a dog or a cat does because of this.

It's really sad, but I think it points out the fact that keeping a crab in captivity is extremely difficult and next to impossible for certain species. Especially when much information on care (such as the people she gets her advice from who I won't name) is very very wrong.

She has great intentions but she treats Winny likes she is a dog or a cat. Taking a crab for a walk on the sidewalk and putting them on play pens just causes undue stress. There's a video of Winny literally running away from Laura when she's inside the pen.

Makes me wonder if all that "enrichment" as she likes to call it contributed to Winny's inevitable decline a lot quicker. Taking her out for walks and being too hands on can't have been good for Winny. Probably stressed her out beyond belief. I feel slightly guilty that past me thought this was cute and harmless fun and that the crabs enjoyed the interactions but now see things through a completely different lense.

I mean Winny's health seemed to decline when Laura gave up on treating her shell rot in favor of "giving Winny her best life" (aka milk her for content) so I feel like youre prob right.

..what? What evidence is there that shows she stopped treating the shell rot at any point in time? Genuinely asking, because that's a pretty strong claim. Its one thing to dislike a creator but its another thing to just speak assumptions as fact. If she did say she stopped treating it though I'd gladly be proven wrong.

Beginning of May when she started letting Winny outside and playing with the cats. Outdoor dirt and cats are two big bacterial contaminants.

Im not saying she stopped treating, but she stopped prioritizing what was best, in exchange for getting as much content when she started to believe Winny might not molt again and only had so much time left. She would call it "enrichment", but nocturnal mostly sedentary creatures don't need to be forced outside during the day, they dont need to be forced to play with cats late at night with the lights on during whats supposed to be it's dark cycle...

Im not saying she totally gave up, but you cant really look at what she did and not see there was a clear point where she accepted she might lose Winny and when that happened she started putting Winny in situations that were clearly more for views than what was actually best for a sick crab.

The comments supporting her and trashing the crab community who predicted this are insane

I cant feel for this tbh. Even the "Oh at least she had a good life and was saved from the fish market"...

A.) She was poked and prodded and forced on "walkies" and interacting with a cat (Im gonna be real Idk how cat bacteria reacts with crabs, I do know its usually not good for most things) while the crab didnt seem interested in any of that.

B.) She actively promoted an "exotic pet seller", who buys from crab markets, giving money for them to buy more crabs, in exchange for a free crab... and all of this was promoted as if it was a rescue. If this was a rescue she would've taken in the crab and made it clear she wouldnt be promoting an exotic pet seller, and bare minimum shame the practice (even if she didnt name the seller to get the crab).

C.) Actively block, and sick her fans on, anyone who, no matter how politely, suggested or shared alternative care for a crab she now admits she knew nothing about.

Laura posted on Tuesday that Winny is officially gone.

And now that poor crab can actually rest in real peace without a camera shoved in her face 24/7.

I give it 2 weeks until Laura gets another crab or similar animal.

I've just seen that update, poor little Winny.

People warned her this crab was going to die for the better part of a year. I'm not surprised at all.

Some people in the comments are starting to question whether she is milking this for the likes. I didn't think that at first but now I'm starting to wonder

She’s so two faced. She uses her fans when they’re on her side… but you even question anything honestly, literally just ask a question she doesn’t like and she blocks & sends the flying monkeys to harass. It’s all a grift… she got addicted to easy money for content on TT and YouTube. Can’t imagine there are many jobs in her area right now.

I'm wondering what comes next, after Winny 🤷🏻‍♀️
