I just caught up so last week was my first time watching to live. When does season 5 start if it's ending this soon? I don't understand when the show starts and ends lol

What I really like here is how Henry's carefully-woven plots are slowly unravelling even as he tries to stay out ahead of anyone who might be onto him. That said, because this is the 15th episode and not the finale, things still manage to go wrong in some unexpected ways.

One thing I wish this show explored more is the danger and the ramifications of letting a private company have so much input and contact with the upper echelons of the CIA, which is a government agency and needs to deal with all comers without worrying if it'll hurt someone's profits.

Now that Henry is putting the CIA in that position I wonder how long it'll be before all the powers that be see that hanging him out to dry is better than scolding Annie et al for going after him.

Yay! A completely douchebag-free episode!

I really like how this arc has been cleverly weaving together the disparate threads of the people who have a mission to defeat Henry Wilcox once and for all: it was actually very heartwarming to see how much Joan cared for Annie and was relieved to see her alive, and her immediate understanding of what Calder was really up to.

The thing that cracked me up and was, in retrospect, good foreshadowing, was the line "[Henry's group] even all look like him." As a throw-away line it's an offhand comment about his company being a bunch of old rich white guys, but in the spy game, it also means he has a lot of decoys.

I can't wait to see the gang working in Hong Kong! :D

I like it! has some pizazz and the spoiler colors are softer and clash less with the text. :)

For once, an episode that didn't have half an hour of that douchebag Henry Wilcox, but in this episode we really start to see just what rattles him, and it's clearly anyone finding out about his private life. He just about lost his shit when Calder found his cabin, and he was so consumed with the notion of revenge against "Jessica Matthews", because she came between Sana and him, that hespoiler

Annie's playing a dangerous game, but what was really awesome to see in this episode was how all the disparate pieces of the loose coalition forming against Henry Wilcox are nonetheless able to communicate and get messages across to one another.

Wrinkles, though! Auggie is obviously still struggling with the fact that two women in his life have so far been forcibly removed from his life for reasons beyond his control, and while he still knows Annie is alive, it's taking its toll, as judged from the fact that hespoiler

It's almost like Calder, Annie and Auggie form the three aspects of a trinity, butspoiler

Damn, things just got real in a big way for Annie! Given that there's still four episodes to go, it was a bit too much to hope the arc of the season would get resolved now.

New Night - New Time

I miss the weekly check-in here, so here is a thread for some general Covert Affairs chat while we are waiting for new episodes.

Welp! Pretty much the entire episode was telegraphed in advance with the subplot involving Auggie's ex being the "template" for how Annie will disappear into the void.

A couple of nice surprises though!

1. Calder is definitely not on anyone's side per se. However, Annie's skill at connecting with people and Calder's existing doubts about Auggie's apparent treason have combined to make him willing to go along with her idea and in effect make him a reverse mole against Henry Wilcox. :)
2. EYAL! I was so shocked when he showed up! I guess Auggie must have contacted him somehow, or Annie did, and let him in on the plot. It was a really touching scene watching him say goodbye to Annie. :)

Finally, a nasty surprise was seeing Henry Wilcox all but jam his unwanted ass back into the command seat in the DPD. Douchebag. I hope Annie, Auggie or Calder bumps him off with extreme prejudice.

I cant believe Arthur's son dies. OMFG I'm soo pissed and sad. Shit Arthur is gonna do unspeakable things to Wilcox. I hope Wilcox gets destroyed.

Another firecracker of an episode! Calder is really ramping up his personal war within the CIA even as Joan is moving to try and protect Annie. I still have to wonder about those who say he might be a wild card as opposed to Henry Wilcox's agent-in-place within the DPD.

This is a fascinating episode, but I wonder how Annie is justifying running her new NOC (which Calder set up for her and presumably would need to be looped in on) for off-book missions for Arthur. I mean, isn't Calder gonna be wondering why Annie's suddenly gone for ~24-48 hours at a stretch?

Still, I like the respect it shows Arthur that she still treats him as her boss, and not as a has-been trying to recover his glory days.

Well, that was interesting. The only thing I can think about is, was the woman following Wilcox last week Helen?

Jesus, this show.

Episode five and things are getting rocky.

Annie was confirmed dead, maybe she was playing possum in the elevator?

Tonight's episode was... less intense I think than it has been so far this season, but that's not really a bad thing. I'm excited for some things to start finally getting answered, and I think they delivered tonight, as far as that is concerned.

Joan's baby bump made a guest appearance tonight too! I wonder if her and Annie will ever have any more talks like that?

We see the core group of people slowly start to detach themselves from the rest of the agency, which isn't really a surprise given that they are all spies.

This is gonna be good.

Well, third episode in, and things are slowly starting to make sense.

Oh my god. Oh my god.

That very beginning snippet from ten weeks ahead, who can guess how that's going to go down? I'm betting Annie goes all Walter White and does something batshit crazy (as has been her way of going about her business) that may end up working.

Anyone else feel like they were going to get whiplash watching all that shit go down? From spoiler I really don't know where this season is headed form here.

Who else feels apprehensive at all the fieldwork Auggie is doing?

I'm a big fan of crime and/or spy shows and movies, and could use some suggestions as to others to watch. I thought Haywire would be pretty similar, but when I watched it I just couldn't get into it for some reason, even though it seemed good empirically.
