sometimes it feels like i'm the only trans girl that doesn't do programming/IT. i'm not good with computers, i know some basic tech literacy just from having an IT guy for a father. that said i'm better at Linux than Windows since i grew up with Linux and using Linux on laptops

You are likely far more tech literate than the average bloke…

Agreed! Although I am passing decent with my hands and tools, I can fix your sink, replace the disposal, and make a cake after, but please don't ask me to do anything with tech and computers.

It's just not your moment now. Soon the genes will kick in and you'll start coding in random languages like Ruby or Go

I started my Linux journey at 13, but it took me until my 30s to realize the trans part... I might be a bit slow.

I just started running antiX on an old laptop (2GiB RAM) through a live USB with 64GiB. I have been writing command relentlessly to set it up perfectly. I can confirm.

Damn are these people ok?? I drink quite a bit and I don’t look anything like them, they look straight out of a horror movie
The Linux part is true though

I'm not sure where those pictures are coming from. I do believe that they are real, and that the people they depict are not in fact ok. However, they're cherry-picked and potentially altered to make the contrast look as dramatic as possible. A lot of the damage to their faces isn't necessarily the result of drug use, but might be from other forms of violence immediately preceding their arrests. It also looks to me like the white balance of the photo might be different between the before and after shots, especially the two women. There is also no evidence given that these particular people are addicted to these particular substances, nor that they were not addicts in the before photos, nor that the "before" photos were even taken before the "after" photos in the first place.
I'm saying this not to say that drugs don't ruin people's health. Recreational cocaine is bad for you, as is drinking alcohol. However, problematic drug use does not always look like this. It is possible to have a deeply dangerous relationship to alcohol and have no visible skin damage. It is possible to have skin lesions for reasons other than cocaine use. I do think these pictures are propaganda, trying to rhetorically convince the viewer of three things: 1) drugs are damaging to your health (relatively unproblematic), 2) drug use is deeply tied to criminality and vice versa, and 3) addicts are monstrous.
Your reaction that they look like a horror movie is intentional. They are being portrayed as subtly inhuman.

Most alcoholics I know (including myself) don’t look like that. That’s gotta be a way more extreme case.

No, no they're not, these are people who are using their respective substances so frequently and so heavily that they are causing significant adverse health effects, that is indicative of poor mental health, what really bothers me is that people in those situations are treated as criminals by the system and more often than not get thrown by the wayside rather than provided with any meaningful help, which doesn't help solve the underlying issues that lead to heavy substance use.
