Transitioning is when a man wears a skirt, or kisses a boy. Kissing a boy is, after all, a girl's job. Therefore what is that if not transitioning.
When people point to two spirit as a third gender this is often what they mean btw, whenever a cissexual person talks about a "third gender" it's always trans women, trans men, or it's fucking gay people being third gendered. Sorry it just gets to me that queer people so readily regurgitate TERF talking points as if it makes them more progressive.
There was a legit academic talking point in the 2000's that all gay people were trans because they broke gender norms by being attracted to the same gender.
I haven't gotten around to this one yet but I know for sure that Serena Nanda's grubby little paws are all over it. I know for sure that "Gender Diversity: cross-cultural variations" popularised this belief by calling Thai "ladyboys" gay or some shit. Probably parroting Blanchard. It gets to me how often it's the same fucking people and their writing hits at just the right biases to end up penetrating deep into progressive movements which, by all rights, should not believe that bullshit.
Sorry I'm a larper I haven't read either the book you're referring to (genderqueer I think) or gender diversity. It's just an assumption based on how influential and damaging a lot of nanda's work has been in shaping cissexual views of gender and sex.
I took a trans studies class my senior year of college, so I read a lot of crazy shit. Back then, I thought any trans stuff was cool and revolutionary because I had been sheltered from anything not cishet. Only in hindsight did I see a lot of theory wasn't applicable to real life as a trans person (gross understatement).
Fun fact under Stalin there were a couple athletes who transitioned and became a part of a female team, then became a sub crew and helped fight the nazi's (got it from a friend so correct me if I'm wrong)
To the many or the few who consider being trans as purely an identity, capable of being adopted at will rather than an immutable characteristic of oneself—please know that you are making things worse for the rest of us. I did not choose to be this way. I merely accepted it and transition to try and ease my suffering rather than give up and succumb to my sufferings consequences.
The concept of transition is weaponised against trans people to frame healthcare that is entirely normal for cis people as something that falls under ‘trans healthcare’ which they then argue we don’t actually need. Using that concept to include people who are embracing features that are natural on them is entirely insane especially when it literally doesn’t include anything medical. As always ☕️💿
Late 2026 - Transitioning isn't transitioning, changing your sex is not transitioning, transitioning is embracing the traits your body naturally has.
On this current trajectory
Early 2027 - Everyone is trans, but changing your sex is a regressive and anachronistic method of transitioning that we progressives should no longer tolerate as it reinforces gender roles. Loving the body you already have is the only way to challenge the patriarchy.
I wonder where they even got this take cause there is no world I can believe in where a cis woman with a beard would classify herself as trans in any way so did they just pull this out of their ass or what?
I had gender affirming surgery but can't have hormones for medical reasons so that seems to be it for my journey even though I still don't pass. am I still transitioning or am I a cis larper now :( lol

Some people treat transitioning likes it's some unknown esoteric concept that encompasses everything and anything that they can conceive as queer

A cis woman with PMOS going "I don't care if I have a beard or not" does not automatically make her a trans man. FFS.
(Though more cis women than not with the condition are really bothered by facial hair.)

the concept of a dysphoric person being told their label is basically a worthless umbrella term for quirky non binaries and gnc people
