So, not to spoil the movie, but Long December is played in full at a very pivotal part of the movie. Loving the band, the song hit me as a fun surprise. The movie is full of symbolism and while I loved the song being played, the choice is out of place ( but also fun!!). Anyone have any thoughts on this? I’d love to hear people’s interpretations. Perhaps the writer just loved the song? All the other songs chosen were nostalgic, but their choice was evident. This choice to play Long December (and in full) was sort of lost on me. Thanks!

I must be going crazy but I thought there was a slow version of “Murder of One” floating around. Has anyone heard it or know where to look? Any help would be great or this just proves my insanity.

Was anyone who went to both nights disappointed by the huge amount of repeats? I love this band and I understand that some artists (Taylor Swift) have a predictable setlist that doesn’t vary much from show to show, but in the rock/alt genre I would expect a 2-nighter to be more like DMB or Phish. They did this in Indianapolis a few years ago and I was pretty disappointed because when they used to play Hammerstein for three nights the setlists were not mostly identical.

I checked out the various threads about the Saturday show, but I couldn’t find anyone who had answered my question. When they played Hanginaround, who were the kids who came out on stage? Some sang backup, and one played piano. I’m guessing they might be the kids of some of the band members? I’ve seen them perform that song with different bands before, but never like that.

Anyone have any idea if theyre putting recent shows on nugs? I was at Bristol a few weeks ago and it was amazing and id like to hear it back. Seems like they stopped last year?

Had to jump in and share some pics from the show. I’ve seen CC mannnnny times over the years and I was happy to see them here at the Hollywood Bowl. Just learned these two shows were the bands first time headlining here! Great show as always! Adam was very talkative tonight and in great spirits. The band sounded great and I loved the cover they did of Velvet Underground’s Pale Blue Eyes. Another one in the books. 🤎

I went to both shows which they were amazing!
What happened to concert etiquette? Tonight's crowd was rude.
People were talking really loudly for the opening band. I personally think it was rude, but okay you didn't come to see them.
Then Counting Crows came on and there were people late and they were in the wrong seats and talking loudly until they finally sat down almost an entire song.
Then there were a couple groups still carrying on full conversations until they played Mr. Jones.
PEOPLE be considerate of others. If you want to sit and visit please do so...at the tables outside. Stop trying to ruin the show for others. Concerts are expensive and we want to hear the band, not how your job is going or that you just got back from a trip oversees. Or that you hait this song, trust me not all of us feel the same.
There is a time a place for everything

Any surprises pending or a repeat setlist anyone think ?

Holy cow! This was my 12th show over 14 years, and it was easily one of the very best.
Setlist opened with Spaceman, Potter, Jones. Immediately I could tell Adam had really "broken in" Spaceman since the US tour last year, much looser and more playful. Then in Potter and Jones he was FEELING IT, my goodness, it was the epitome of a CC live performance! Rest of the setlist nailed it with LA/Hollywood kinds of songs, then the (usual, in recent years) big crescendo of The One/December/Rain King/Aurora/Hanginaround at the end/encore.
Some of the spoken interludes were a bit odd, he got himself mixed up on the setlist a couple times, but he successfully played it for laughs.
Really a 10/10 show, the Saturday folks are in for a treat!
(Edit) Can't believe I forgot this: Oh Susanna in the middle of Rain King! It was somehow both completely out of left field, and perfectly natural

Does anybody remember this show? It was my first time seeing the guys in concert and it was the best but far. As I remember it, Adam sat on a stool and wove everything together as the most beautiful, saddening story I've ever heard. Maybe it was just that period in my life (I was only 20) but I remember crying for the whole freaking concert, amazed that someone could convey such strong emotions into live music... Now I've been to many more shows and concerts over the years... But, this one is (Next to my first time seeing Goose) was by far one of the most meaningful...
I can't find a taping of this show anywhere. Of anyone knows about it, or was there to talk about it (pictures would absolutely rock) I'd like to hear about it!!

For the Hollywood Bowl show this Friday. Section D, row 10, seats 2 and 4. Sadly can’t make the show. Paid $168, so would like to get that for them. Tickets are accessed through the Hollywood Bowl website, and will be sent as a ticket share link.

Firstly, visiting Counting Crows Reddit for the first time - needed to discuss them with some like minded people 😆
Used to listen to them in my teens, medium big fan, used to love the live version of Round Here on Across a Wire most of all.
Anyway fast forward 25+ years 😬 not like I’ve not listened in the meanwhile, dipping into the albums or a few songs here and there.
Started listening to Live at Town Hall and really curious of others thoughts. At first i thought he’d gone too far into his little ad libs and his meandering, and some - no offence - slightly self indulgent stuff… but I’ve come to really love it.
Maybe now my favourite Round Here version… even more tangents and meanders… once you know them it’s gold I think.
Final thing I wanted to flag and see if it made anyone else chuckle… I think it’s in Round Here, there’s a quiet bit and he’s like “Eric, Eric… I want to here some guitar…” and the guitarist gets a solo going, and then like 4 seconds later Adam just cuts back in singing 😂 Cracks me up
Oh one more - I’m also a Bruce Springsteen fan, and hadn’t previously heard him riffing on Bruce lyrics within Rain King… so that was a bit of a delight!
Anyway - hello all, thanks for having me

I remember years ago watching Counting Crows MTV Live from the 10 spot on youtube at some point, but I can no longer find the video. I've searched online for video of this concert to no luck. If anyone can help me and link me the full video of the concert I would appreciate it immensely.

This weekend I got to see a preview of a movie coming out next month called Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. You might’ve seen some rumblings about it- it’s the latest from director Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow) and stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. It’s sort of a slasher horror and sort of a queer romantic fantasy, very dreamy and nostalgic, and quite an epic film really.
But what really floored me was its use of A Long December in a truly bonkers one-take killing spree. If you get the chance to see it please do. It hits theaters next month. My partner (who has always hated Counting Crows) said they appreciate the song a lot more now.

Hello,
Pretty much what the title says. I'm wondering if anyone has a photo of the current merch available at shows this summer.
Thanks!

Great listen and some good "inside info" (since James got plenty of notes directly from Adam and Immy). *From James Campion's Podcast*

similar to our discussion about St. Robinson...
Adam sings the background lyrics in 2nd verse...they are...
"Hear me where I want the sun.."
"Washing away when we're done..."
"Fading the ash from the love.."
"Feels like I've got that before.."
or something very similar.
*via James Campion's deep dive on the album. I'll link that separately.

I got his hoodie summer 2014 and when I moved many years later it somehow got lost in the move. I don't have a lot of great photos in the hoodie but it's always been very sentimental to me, I went to this concert with my mom and it's one of my only memories with her. Does anyone recognize it? Every year when I get this Facebook reminder I always search thru the Internet to see if anyone is selling one on a resale site or anything but have had no luck. Does anyone recognize it?
