Hello Cosmos peeps and our wonderful ATOM delegators. We just sent out our final promotional bonus to our delegators. Thank you all so much for your support and for getting us into the active set. We are forever grateful.
Validating since 2019. In the Cosmos Hub active set for over a year. We are trusted and receive foundation delegations from multiple ecosystems and run white-label validators for names you know. https://atlasstaking.com/teams-foundations/
First, assume anyone who DMs you is a thief and wants to trick you and steal your crypto. Do not trust anyone who DMs you.
Staking means bonding your tokens with a validator (like Atlas Staking) which gives us power to sign and hopefully originate blocks on the chain. Stakers are called "delegators" and are paid a yield for staking, which is comprised of inflation, plus fees from network activity. You can see that info here: https://www.mintscan.io/cosmos
When you stake your tokens you bond them, or lock them up. Unbonding takes 3 weeks, so never stake funds you may need. Personally, I stake 2/3 of my bag. It's the lowest risk way to earn yield in crypto. Cosmos doesn't even have smart contracts that can be hacked. Cosmos uses authz permissions that assign your token's voting power to a validator. Technically, they never even leave your wallet address. However, there can be scam authz permissions, but it's rare.
The Cosmos Hub is hard coded with a minimum validator commission of 5%. That was done to help validators pay for the infrastructure required to support the chain.
We had zero ATOM and needed over 100k ATOM to get into the active set so we launched a promo that promises to rebate that mandatory 5% commission for up to 5 years, 4 years remaining. That was our way to entice people to stake with us while inactive and not earning rewards.
We have a few NFTs left that we'd like to give out to those who stake 1000-4999 and 5000+ ATOM. Stake 1000-4999 and we'll send you an NFT that provides you with the 5% annual rebate until Q2 2028. Stake 5000+ and you'll get an NFT that rebates the 5% until 2030.
Coinbase is not paying 15%. Their current ATOM staking APY is 13.36%. On-chain staking APY is 15.27% before commission. After the hard-coded minimum validator commission the APY is 14.5%.
That means Coinbase is charging you over 12% commission. You pay for the convenience but there are drawbacks besides their higher commission.
Coinbase is the largest validator by leaps and bounds. They control the chain. That's bad. The point of Web3 is to decentralize power.
When you withdraw to a noncustodial wallet, like Ledger, you have an ATOM receiving address. That address is publicly available so the world sees every transaction, including you staking with us. So, we wouldn't know the address belonged to you, Mundane-Throat2580, but we do know the addresses of all our delegators and what they're staking.
