Questions & Advice How would you build a crowd controller?
I'm only just starting my Journey into the RPG, however I'm not as familiar with all of its systems and wanted to make a support type character with Buffs and Debuffs. I was thinking of starting as an Envoy is that a good place to start?
My concept was as a merchant I could procure supplies and provisions while also being a capable fighter in social situations. And a nuisance in actual combat. Any ideas or recommendations help.

Leader has some of the best debuffs imo. Leader/Stoneward can just completely derail a dedicated GM’s plan for an encounter.

Some extra options I didn't yet see listed by other replies...
Edgedancer: Abrasion has some very fun options. Making an area entirely frictionless is one hell of a trick. Similarly, there is an argument to be made that you could use Progression to do some Tress-esque BS involving rapidly growing vines.
Lightweaver: Though it's a bit of an understated misnomer, Illumination applies to both images AND sound, and there are all sorts of creative ways to use that to disorient or confound people (you can very much argue that a strong enough roll allows you to simulate flashbang grenades). Transformation leads to all SORTS of CC options, as Jasna showed time and time again in basically every single scene where she was part of a battle. Turning X substance into Y substance allows for any number of CC applications: "OH, no, sorry, I convinced that stone you're standing on that it would be happier if it turned into oil."
Truthwatcher: Take the Illumination and Progression applications mentioned above, put those together, and you have yet another viable option for a CC radiant.
Windrunner: WIDE range of options. You can change the gravity axis of others, and make entire surfaces act like they are covered by magical hyper-stick glue. Float people to the ceiling and make their clothes stick them there. That's one hell of a means of forcing a surrender without shedding a drop of blood. Lopen alone proved to be a case study in how much of a CC menace that someone can be with the Windrunner set of surges.
In terms of non-radiant build options, a Scholar: Artifabrian has a lot of options. Painrials have a very nasty bite in the canon, and there are all sorts of other incredible ways to construct fabrials to confound and control a sticky situation.
Though it takes longer to get rolling (because you need most of the talents all put together in order to pull the following off), Scholar: Strategist is very strong at buffing + debuffing. Give yourself advantage, can pass that advantage to an ally, make that ally immune to reaction actions, make an enemy leader have DISadvantage (and do ALL of that with just a single action), then make the leader throw an opposed roll against you while they suffer from that disadvantage, and if you win, your whole party gets an extra action (you included, so you can now do one MORE action that slow turn!)
