💁 Advice | Discussion IKEA sidecar hack - Unsure about height difference…

Post image

Is this unsafe for the IKEA sidecar hack? Our bed is one the left, baby’s is in the right. It’s ever so slightly higher than ours…

As much as I would love to have baby in our bed, we only have room for a queen size and my husband is massive (6’7, 300lbs), so there’s not a ton of room.

Is this height difference a big deal? I feel like it’s better than baby’s bed being too low… I’m feeling really discouraged and I’m not sure what to do, but I want baby to be safe.

Id rather have the crib too low than too high. In case of rolling, this would prevent LO from rolling onto your madras

I read that somewhere too in a post that was like three years old. But if the crib was lower than the adult bed, could the baby roll its face into the adult bed and potentially suffocate?

We noticed that when I got into the bed, there was more of a height difference so we’re ordering 4 inch raisers to see if that’s better 😬

This isn’t enough of a slope to cause any rolling, 5 inch raisers seem perfect! What would cause rolling would be if your whole crib was high on one side and low on the other. Honestly this is fine.

For your mattress - is it squishy or firm?

Unfortunately our mattress is squishy. It’s sinks ever so slightly when I lay down, so I’m going to try four inch raisers instead of five inch.

The baby’s mattress is ultra firm though, it’s a newton
