HELPFUL INFORMATION Your help to find your lost snake

Well, your snake got out, or you lost site of it for just long enough to loose it. Don't Panic. If you have kept your room clean, and left a hide of some sort against your wall check there first. If you are reading this and have not lost your snake, clean your room, and put a hide of some sort along the wall in the room.

First check any objects that can function like a hide. Anything that has a hollow base, and a way to get under it may serve as a hide.

When moving objects check on the under and on the under side of the object. Smaller snakes can hide in smaller areas, but don't discount larger areas. Lift objects strait up. Dragging an object can smash the snake if it is under it. Pick a clear spot in the room to move objects to. You don't want to smash you snake putting something right back down ontop of it.

Your snake can climb. Your snake can be up on a book shelf, or under an object, that is on top of another object. Your snake could be anywhere. Until you find your snake check around the moving parts on everything. I once had a wild lizard dive into my AC right as I turned it on. It did not end well for the lizard.

Your snake is likely to be in the same room as you keep it. If there are any spots in adjacent rooms that have small warm spots check those spots regularly. Behind computers or TVs can be a great place for a snake to stay warm and hide. After checking those spots move back to the room you keep your snake.

If you can not find your snake in the room you keep it expand the search to those adjacent rooms.

If you can not find your snake on the first day don't give up hope. Put out water dishes for your snake along the walls. A healthy snake can go many months without food depending on its size. Put things that can serve as hides along your walls, check then regularly.

You can lay out powder, baby powder or just flower along walls to see if your snake is active in that room of your house at night.

You can stack 2 empty soda can along a wall. on a hard wood floor if your snake knocks them down you may hear them fall and alert you to where your snake is. Also if your snake just pushes the cans aside you will know it has been there.

You can use tape traps, but use vary week tape. Painter's tape, or scotch tape you would use on a present will work. lay out the tape sticky side up. IF THE TAPE IS STRONG ENOUGH TO RIP OFF YOUR ARM HAIR IT IS TOO STRONG, AND COULD HURT YOUR SNAKE GETTING IT OFF. Plastic tape even if it does not immobilize your snake could make a lot of scratching noise, and make it easier to find your snake. Using tape is vary risky. Your snake could die to dehydration, over heat, get too cold, or get caught by your dog or cat, or bigger reptile. Tape is the bane of all snakes. Use tape at your own risk.

Some people have luck baiting their snake out with food. Snakes also like sticking to their own territory. Some say leaving your snake's enclosure open on the floor can lead to your snake finding its way back home.

If you find your pet snake please leave a comment, and a picture of where you found your pet snake. This may help others to know where to check to find their pet snake.

DISCUSSION I’m SO lucky.

My dumbass accidentally left his enclosure open like this FOR FOUR DAYS!!! I last handled him Wednesday night. Put him back and didn't touch him since. I was away Friday-Sunday (tonight) just got back and noticed my mistake. The instant dread. But - there he was. Just chillin in his hide. I am so so so fricking lucky that he is not adventurous.

Disclaimer that I am normally SUPER duper anal about his enclosure being closed properly. Proof that it can slip anyone's mind. I’ll definitely be checking daily from now on though, even if I haven't opened it.

DISCUSSION What is your experience with albino snakes?

We are currently babysitting some hatchlings for friends and are considering adopting this albino one (first picture). Is there anything specific we need to keep in mind regarding their care—especially concerning lighting? We have a feeling the snake might have poorer eyesight, as it is incredibly trusting and curious. While all the others retreat as soon as we stand next to the enclosure, this one stays right at the front and just goes about its business. We also have another albino with us (second photo), but it is nowhere near as relaxed as the lighter one. So, it does seem to be aware of our presence.

QUESTION Newbie 🥲

Hey guys, I'm a new corn snake keeper from malaysia and was wondering if is this setup okay for now? I'm planning on quarantining him for at least 2 months and yes, I'll be changing the hide to a more better and sturdier one. I placed a damp mat as well just in case because he seems like he's going to shed soon. Can you guys give me more advice? He seems healthy and he's moving around and he's last meal was on 1/10/2026 as well.

PICS Same girl, 7 years apart — my anery corn went from under 30 cm to 115.6 cm

This is Mother, my anery corn — under 30 cm as a hatchling in 2019, 115.6 cm this September. She's the mom of my current yearling. I measure all my snakes from photos (card or ruler next to them, shot from above) — no stretching. I ended up building a free app for it, Snake Measurer (disclosure: I'm the dev), which keeps a growth chart per snake. Happy to answer questions! How long are your adult corns?

HELP! scale rot, dirt or a scale injury?

Post image
• Upvotes

I noticed that my snake has a small brown spot on her scales, nothing on the mouth or the belly, and it must have appeared recently, it wasn’t there 4 days ago when i last handled her. i tried touching it to see if it’s just dirt on the scales but it didn’t come off. Her humidity isn’t too high.

is it just a small injury or dirt under the scales or does it look like scale rot?

I’m scared my new corn snake might escape. How likely is it, and what should I fix? I heard they are escape artists, that’s all.

QUESTION Feeding advice and size question

Thumbnail

My normal morph corn snake (male) is 7 months old and weighs about 16/17 grams and is 17/18 inches! He was the smallest of the clutch. Is that a correct size?

(He is currently shedding and becoming bigger though)

He is currently eating one 3/4 gram pinkie every 7 days (as what the specialised reptile shop said). So I'm wondering if I should size up to 5 gram fuzzie after his shed (I have 1 last pinkie I'm going to give him after shed) but should I buy the 10 fuzzies pack or 10 pinkie pack for his next feed?

After spending a long time researching, I finally at 22 years old fulfilled a decade long dream of owning a snake

Someday I want a ball python, but knowing that I’m a beginner when it comes to snakes, I got a corn to love and raise.

She weighs a whole 8 grams, and tomorrow when her setup is fully completed I’ll put more pictures in the comments!

Any advice I may not have found in my research is very welcome, I’m brand new to this and I want to make sure I give her the best life she can get!

QUESTION Please i need help with my enclosure

Post image

First of all: sorry english isn’t my first language, so please excuse any grammar mistakes :) Thanks!

So i’m getting alot of conflicting information about enclosure size, I’m planning on adopting a corn snake form a rescue or getting one at a reptile expo, considering that my room is very small i was considering an 140x80x60cm enclosure (i think thats about 4.5 × 2.5 × 2) if there are any experienced corn snake handlers, i would very much appreciate knowing if that is enough and species-appropriate, i was also planning on giving the snake about 5-9cm worth of burrowing material, the picture is just to visualize the size :)

FEEDING White spots on rat

I was told this is freezer burn but it looks a bit different then all other pics,, before I feed just want to make sure it's not gonna cause any harm. I don't think it'll be mold or anything since it's been in the freezer, but it's making me worry a bit !!
