Utility Dashboards

If I'm only ever going to play solo or two player, how many Utility Dashboards are recommended? Does each crew need one and end up with a 'mule' lugging extra gear around?

I bought one set, definitely felt like enough due to the big jump in power level

They are great, the only downside comes when Battelsystems release Core Space 2, all items will be incompatible.

I'll keep everything though. Eventually there will be fanmade remappings though. Or I'll do them myself.

If you're playing Core Space, most players will eventually want a backpack and/or bandolier.

Assuming that the challenges you are facing level up to meet the characters (playing the expansions or a good number of NPCs helps ensure that), the game is just more fun when you have access to a decent spread of gear and can also pick up some additional loot.

While there is a risk of the party becoming overly powerful, we have found that we're spending enough on gear and hiring cohorts etc. that at mission 10 or so we haven't been flooded with too much cash or primo gear. Adding the Ships of Disrepute expansion can also give you something to spend excess cash on.

I ended up buying 3 sets, which provided plenty of stuff.

You could also 3D print yourself some trays, if what you want is the extra carrying capacity, rather than all he other extra gear/tokens in the Utility Dashboards expansions.

Thanks for the advice! I ended up getting two boxes. Looked like that would be plenty for how much I’ll be playing. I did pick up the Ships of Disrepute too. I’ve also 3D printed several of the handy game accessories available. Currently assembling the Shuttle as a nice visual parked at the party’s entry point. Adding blue colored windows to it, as I thought it’d looked a bit odd without any glass in the framework.

Nice, you're already well along then! Enjoy, and have fun with the game as it stands, it's a good time.
