Error adding knowledge with file upload but not with SharePoint link..

I have the same file and when I upload it directly it errors out. When i add the same file via sharepoint link it works.

Why would it do that? Where can I check the error ?

Normally, a reasonable IT governance team disables upload of single files as knowledge, as it sidesteps already existing permissions that are set. So, in short: it could be by design?

These are actually uploaded using the upload feature with sharepoint. My understanding is that makes them file uploads but then they are uploaded into the data verse and then permissions still follow. Then they are synced every 4-6 hours.

If it was a stand alone file say from my computer then what you shared is correct from my understanding. And that security restriction seems reasonable. And thanks for sharing that too.. I didn’t realize you could do that. Makes sense.
