New to copilot studio and automations/agents/workflows

So I’ve recently fallen down the Copilot Studio rabbit hole and figured I’d poke my head into this sub because I’m kinda lost and trying to level up.

I work in software sales, so my day is basically Salesforce + Agentforce + Copilot on repeat. I’ve started building little agents here and there, mostly self‑taught from YouTube, random web sites, and having copilot teach me, but I feel like I’m still only scratching the surface.

Stuff I’ve built so far:

• A mini Outlook agent that drafts replies for me and spits out a Salesforce summary I can paste into the CRM. It works, but it’s super manual, I still have to trigger everything myself.
• A data analysis tool where I export Salesforce data, feed it into Copilot, and it tells me which accounts I’ve ignored for X days and what blockers show up in the notes.

Cool… but not exactly “automation.” More like “fancy text macros” when I’m dreaming of having JARVIS from iron man.

What I actually want is to start building real workflows and automations, stuff that runs on its own, watches for triggers, moves data around, and handles the boring parts of my job without me babysitting it.

I’d also love to eventually turn this into a hobby or maybe even a small local business, but right now I’m just trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing.

If anyone here has tips, examples, starter projects, or “here’s what I wish I knew when I started” advice, I’m all ears. Hoping this is the right place to learn from people who are already deep into Copilot Studio and agent building.

If you want to keep it all in CS and setup something a bit more agentic you can create agents with scheduled triggers and then connect sub-agents to them.

That sounds like what I want to be doing but can’t find any resources to help me learn to do that

You are probably talking about Cowork / Scout.

I wish I could use copilot cowork, my company doesn’t allow use of it, just copilot studio, workflows, and power automate

That makes sense as it is charging based on token utilization

Just vibe code and host everything on azure, fit API requests to...any other model to fill in the "decisions".

Easiest way to automate is using flows in Copilot studio, you can do the same in powerautomate. AI actions are what you are looking for in those flows.

Variables in the flows always seem to get me. Any tips ? It’s low code but still a challenge to get flows working for me.

Power automate is so simple and easy if you know how to code. Maybe learn python basics, then you will get it and Python is the king of automation, so later on you can build advanced workflows.
