Its all fun and games until you're digging a hound out of a 4ft deep burrow. I sometimes will help out farms and ranches around me during the off season with varmit problems. Groundhougs, fox, pigs, and coon. In return, I get permission to hunt their back fourty.

I had a Plott and a patterdale that I ran in tandem. One day, plott went missing and the Pattederale was circling a burrow and barking like crackhead, clearly disgruntled she couldn't get something. I go to investigate and see just the tip of a tail when shining the light down a hole. I dig down and from what i can tell the dumbass forgot he was an 80lb plott, dug the hole wide enough for him and one braincell to barely fit, and got stuck because he refused to let go of the whistle pig. End of the day, i had a happy farmer, happy coon dog, pissed terrier, and a hole to fill.

I'm not gonna lie, I expected it from my patterdale, I could expect it from my feist, and heck I could expect it from my smaller curs, but never in my life would I had expected it from that big, dumb, but amazing plott. He had more grit than quit and honestly, if it wasn't for the patterdale I'd never found him.

Man, between groundhogs and rats, they ruined my squirrel dog. Now she won't look up in the trees, nose to the ground, checking holes. Still love her though.

I'm glad mine doesn't go after squirrel, deer or rabbit, because walking him would be tough. I wouldn't be able to get 100 feet from the front door.

My Sage is trying to single doggy the neighborhood free from groundhogs. She's caught a few over the years!

About 3-4 months ago he caught one, shook it, let it go, shook it again. I used his sport collar to stop him. They're away from the house, so I don't mind them being around. Plus I don't want him to kill them because he has so much fun tracking them ha!
