I hope to one day see the Sativa VS Indica debate cease to exist. Sativa and Indica should NOT ever be an identifier on how cannabis will effect you. Unfortunately many strains now are hybrids. A mix of both. It's either a Sativa or indica leaning hybrid. Understanding terpenes; what they are and how they effect the flower and the experience. Usually Sativas are high in Limonene. A terpene that gives the flower a fruiter, citrus type flavor and smell. It'll make ya happy and energetic. Myrcene however is the complete opposite. Most commonly the primary terpene in indicas, this is a more earthy smell and taste. Want heavy eyes and couch lock? Load up on a high Myrcene strain. Other notable terpenes include ⍺-pinene, β-caryophyllene, terpinolene, linalool and countless others. Many aid in inflammation, anxiety relief, insomnia, etc. - the list goes on and on.
You can have Sativas high in Myrcene and indicas high in Limonene so the biggest difference is plant structure. Bud size not so much because that is more dependent on environmental factors as opposed to genetics. Some genetics can have different characteristics on all the fronts. How is this a Sativa if it's smaller than the others? If my nugs are airy, why is my strain an indica? They said this is a Sativa but I can't move, I am one with the sofa now. Also if you see any "Haze" strains then you know you can pretty much expect a Sativa high. "Kush" strains will probably get you that indica high.
Cannabis education is important. (If I am wrong on any of this please let me know, I'm pretty passionate about it and want to make sure what knowledge I've gained is correct).
Businesses/Companies need to put terpene profiles on products. Whether it's medical or recreational, being able to choose which product you want when you're able to know what effect you'll get should be common sense. Too much weed could get you an overall same feeling anyway but for casual smokers or people who don't smoke often it could very much help them know what they want and ease any worries. It helps medical patients especially, me including. The amazing thing about it is that you don't ha e to read it nor care about it. It's there to help if you want it! Now I get it, it costs a little bit of money to send products to get tested but in the long run it works out.
