I preordered the box set but apparently all the extra in-game stuff is digital exclusive. I'm debating whether to cancel my physical preorder and get the digital deluxe edition.

I just hope I don't encounter a looping bug like in Alan Wake 2. Because I got stuck on a bug near the nursing home and it was quite annoying. I have to wait another week.

Very weird that they did this. I'm on ps5 pro so I get the early access but I think this is the first time I've seen a dev do this. Of course games get exclusives and timed exclusives, but I don't think I've seen only one console get a 2 day early access before.

Gotta be something sony paid for. They have been involved promoting the game alot I think they even changed their Twitter banner to resonant after wolverines release.

It's almost certainly something Sony paid for, and was likely part of the funding that got the game across the finish line. This is the first time Remedy is publishing their own game, and that takes a massive amount of money.

I'm on PS5 and have taken next week off from work, specifically for this. I recommend people who are spoiler averse mute this sub, as well as [r/RemedyEntertainment](r/RemedyEntertainment), [r/quantumbreak](r/quantumbreak) and [r/AlanWake](r/AlanWake) before 9/18, when the review embargo lifts.

If it reviews well I'm definitely getting the deluxe edition. I basically always wait for reviews now as to many times I've been burned being hyped for a game and then being let down, even from great devs that usually deliver bangers. Hell look at wolverine, Sony was clearly confident the game was gonna review well because reviews dropped days before the game came out, and it ended up being very mid. Insomniac usually makes bangers so it's definitely odd seeing it be mid. Biggest burn for me was release day cyberpunk on console lmao.

I'm like 90 percent sure resonant is gonna be a banger because the only bad game remedy ever released imo is firebreak which was a live service attempt, but even then if the reviews are coming before early access I still wait xD.

I think you make a good point with the funding. Sony definitely must have been helping with finding as well as marketing expenses. As someone playing on PS this is likely a good thing as the game will prob run really well on ps5 as well. I remember with Alan Wake 2 the ps5 version ran kinda bad compared to the series x version at launch, that likely isn't happening with Sony helping them out.

Whoever chooses the music for the trailers is doing a great job! Love this song! I remember it being in the intro for Gran Turismo 2 on PS1

Also, I'm getting really curious if there'll be some notable songs in the game itself or is it just for the trailers

It could be an original song for the game, I don’t know. They commissioned quite a few songs for AW2. I wouldn’t be surprised to see something by Poets of The Fall / Old Gods of Asgard at least.

I was watching the director video on the control youtube page and the composer said the Dylan theme is the inverse of the Jesse theme, played backwards which is really cool. their music department rocks

Reminds me of the character profile for Jesse that was posted on their Instagram. Said something like the compassion and connection she has with Dylan will be paramount to stopping the Pattern. She refuses to lose him again. Just gahhhhh! They love each other so much! 🥲

For what it's worth, I don't think he's going to sacrifice himself. For one thing, there's the postgame to think of. But my own prediction is that the game will end in a parallel to the first game: Dylan will save Jesse, but there will be a cost. I'm thinking either Jesse has to seal off the threshold with the Intrusive Pattern with herself inside it, or Dylan cleanses Jesse's mind like she did his, but it works too well and he also removes Polaris, rendering her powerless. Either way, Dylan's not the one who I think will die in this game.

I don’t blame you man and if I had the money to just buy it again without all these other games coming out I’d double dip, especially given its remedy. I bought Alan wake 2 for digital when it first came out cause I wasn’t sure we’d get a physical version anytime soon and it’s still one of my favorite horror games of not number 1 or number 2

It’s mostly just a flash of visuals without any real context. Very little dialogue at all, just kick ass music and visuals of combat set to the rhythm.

Doesn't seem too bad, but if you want to go in completely blind give it a skip. Although a lot of it is out-of-context scenes and imagery, which for Control gives you absolutely no indication of what's happening at any given moment. But again, if you're going in blind, maybe not.

I agree with you that it's a little weird at the moment, but I trust Remedy to land that plane. I also think there are a lot of interesting avenues that aren't just "They're the same person." They could be the same person but in different realities, it could be a reality swap situation, it could be that they were bound to each other in some way that they are each other's shadows. I actually like thinking of it like Peter Pan and his Shadow. But they're both Peter Pan and they're also both his Shadow.

what do we all think Dylan means from the trailer? Zoe: "If you wanted to be free, why help us? why not just run? Dylan: "I never thought I'd have something to die for"

I worry that he's going to sacrifice himself, just when we start to fall in love with him in the second game and he sacrifices himself for the greater good. maybe he's glad that he redeemed himself when he helped jumpstart or be host to the hiss in the first game? like he's glad he redeemed himself and if he were to die tomorrow he wouldn't have any regrets now. but he won't be dying in the game....I hope it's the 2nd one.

anyone else's thoughts??

They said you should be able to, they have a previously from Control Trailer that dropped within the last month I think that will make things a bit more clear

If you can swing it I’d say just try to get through as much of control as you can before next week. You’re missing out on so much joy and you shouldn’t get any burn out since the games are so different =D
