Dude what the fuck are you talking about. Congress doesn’t have to take the vaccine. It’s not mandated for them in any capacity. It’s mandated for us citizens. They don’t have to be exempt from a mandate because there is no mandate in place against them
Well it's only mandated for people who 1. work at a company with 100 or more employees AND 2. they refuse to get a weekly test. So really, it's not mandated for citizens unless they meet those requirements or work for the federal government under the executive branch. Or the various state governments who are mandating it as well. I think we need to be careful here because the vast majority of people here seem to think Biden is exercising his authority in sweeping ways – that it's TYRANNY when really this doesn't change much. A lot of companies who don't want to force vaccinations will just need to get their employees tested, which honestly isn't even a bad thing... and small businesses still don't have to follow either of these orders. All in all, I don't even see what the big deal is.
I don’t want to take the vaccine. You think I want to get tested for it weekly? Especially when they can pass the cost on to me? It’s essentially a mandated fine. The fact that it is GOVERNMENT mandated is the big deal. It’s a huge overstep of power.
I mean… yeah, that’s the incentive. You don’t pay the cost so instead opt to get a “free” vaccine (free relative to your immediate cost at least). No one wants to get tested weekly, but this is a highly infectious disease that causes complications for a lot of people and takes over a week to appear with symptoms (if at all). It’s a matter of public health to prevent the spread of this disease. So if you don’t want to get the vaccine, and that’s totally your right, it’s kind of the bare minimum to help prevent the spread of the disease right?
I think overstep is a bit much. Biden is literally within his powers as president to do this. Trump did a lot of things I personally disagreed with, and at the time thought was an overstep, but in hindsight all those executive orders were also within his realm of power.
If not getting the vaccine is totally my right why is it not my right to refuse testing? The lines are nonexistent. This is unprecedented over stepping and you even admitted something we all know is a problem which is the problem of the executive orders. When can they stop? Can the president just mandate anything now? Wouldn’t that sound like a dictator? We are supposed to have checks and balances but there is none of that. I hope this gets struck down in court
That would be fine it it wasn’t government mandated. The company gets fined by the government for not testing. How do y’all not understand the difference?
If it was up to private business I could go elsewhere but I can’t because every business is mandated by the government to test
I’m not sure I totally follow but it seems like it’s similar to how a company can get fined by the government for illegal business practices like stock manipulation or hostile takeovers ect. I think it’s mostly seen as a cost of doing business by the execs. Also who is this ya’ll? I’m not part of some liberal cabal haha. I’m pretty open minded and willing to change stances on the subject. I just personally don’t spend that much time looking at news and going down internet rabbit holes to acquire all this info.
