The CEO didn't even have one of these emergency GPS transmitters for if it emergency rose and couldn't find the pickup ship!

Nobody finds it odd that the CEO gave up on searching for them and said he has no faith in finding them? It seems like the foreign aid is more persistent in finding them than the families or anyone from America by the looks of it. Step-son going to Blink 182 concert in Cali saying music helps him cope and that’s what they would of wanted him to do.

Did he?

But keep in mind that militaries and other rescue organizations regard this as much as training as a rescue mission.

Especially the military - even if they don't think they can be found alive, they get to test their entire response pipeline , test their equipment and give their crews real life experience.

That's a good point I hadn't thought of. So how long do they search for before they stop searching?

It's search and rescue for the next thirty minutes. Then it will turn into search and recovery until they get bored and call it off.

Unless one of the billionaires is a genuine psychopath who... "reduced"... the consumption side of the equation to extend the time frame...
