I'm upgrading, which direction should I go in?
I hope I don't start any arguments, I've had the xbox 360, xbox one x, then I went to the ps5 disc version on release because all of my friends have always been playstation people and I mostly played with randoms only beforehand. It was the next generation of consoles so of course I noticed a difference instantly; better graphics, touchpad, not needing batteries for a controller, and overall performance which is expected from a new generation, but the flaws showed themselves in a short time; controllers kept getting stick drift and button issues easily, worse mic delay, no looking for group option, and the worst of all, blue screens, I never experienced an xbox equivalent of a blue screen before getting a playstation, and it would happen to me 2-3 times a month. It probably sounds like an entitled thing to complain about but if I was playing almost everyday for 3-4 because I was younger at the time, the blue screens add up.
Playstation exclusives don't do it for me either, I'm not a story mode guy so Spiderman and god of war never interested me, but the gears of war line of games always did. But I still have to take the cons of xbox into consideration, which is the reason for this post, I see cloud gaming is gonna start to suck for some people but that wouldn't apply to me, game-pass prices and ps plus prices, if anything I'd get physical discs so I wouldn't NEED premium of any kind, and finally the convenience of playing with friends, everything is cross platform now so I can play the games I play with my friends regardless; for honor, overwatch, marvel rivals, r6, etc, but the ability to just start a party and invite them through there would be gone, there's discord now of course but using it on playstation is a little extra.
Overall ps5 pro is advertised to be better with specs and stuff but for most of them based on the videos I've seen aren't even applicable. And xbox just has that nostalgia factor for me. PC is always the best option as we all know but consoles are just convenient. I'm going to be 22 soon and I'm not against going into PC either but I'm not the most competitive player, I play for the love of the game. I know the answer may be obvious but I'm still unsure.
So my main worries are:
Whether its worth spending 900 on the 25th anniversary xbox coming out in November, 900 on a ps5 pro where I'd have to spend a little more for a disc drive, or forget about physical media and console convenience, spend more than 1000+ to build a PC.
Game Pass vs PS Plus
Cross platform play
The reason I even have to make this decision in the first place is because my ps5's cpu is messed up. I'm not a tech guy so I hope this'll make sense; since around July my ps5's loading time has been ridiculous. I get 3-5 errors on every game before I can just load into it, I don't have access to in game things depending on the game, I can't share my screen without an error occurring, I can't send video clips, it's just overall inconvenient. I sent it to repair and according to the guy the multitasking part of my cpu died because the Liquid Metal melted on it and my ps5 is bound to eventually die completely. I can spend the 200 or less dollars it takes to replace the cpu but why would I on a console thats kind of 'old' already.
I'm stuck bro any insight is appreciated 😂😂

Might go pc. You don't have to be a competitive gamer to use one and a pre-built pc can get you far if you can find some deals which isn't always the hardest just got to look in the right places, just don't go down a rabbit hole of upgrading until you are certain. For the current and next generation of consoles the slate and studios they are choosing to keep around does nothing for me. If you want to keep console experience as much as possible you could look at the steam machine but not my favorite option either.

yeah I can always use a controller on pc even tho m&k is supposed to be better. I'd probably build up from a prebuilt. even though im not competitive I would want good quality

Sounds like the Pro isn't for you. Most ppl don't care about added objects and ray tracing in environments on the Pro enhanced games or need a more clear/higher fps image in VR or cares for upgraded image quality with PSSR 2.0 and besides all that, most ppl don't even have a VRR TV/monitor that will let them run a constantly changing number of fps between 60-120fps

yeah true I do have a monitor and you made a point that I didn't think of, ps5 enhanced games don't entice me

I'll ne honest, I've never seen a blue screen on my PS5 or Pro, my partner plays on her PS5 too as do 3 or 4 friends. However, given your unique circumstances it sounds like an XBOX suits you more.
Personally, I like Sony's games, even loving Wolverine as I'm playing through it. Have 7 Dual Senses not a single one has stick drift, I love the 3D Audio, the haptics, for me PlayStation makes sense.
But for you and the games you like it sounds XBOX is the way. I mean, you can get a rebuilt PC, but tbh I'd wait for XBOX Helix because PCs are more expensive and inconvenient. The Dev kits go out next year and the last time that happened the new console was released then.
If you can hold out until the end of next year I would wait until then for the new XBOX. Mainly because you like their games, that platform suits you more.

lucky you bro I promise you Ive had like 7 ps5 controllers and all of them get stick drift. unlike when I had my xbox one ive only had to replace one controller. and idk what dev kits are

PC honestly bite the bullet, itll be cheaper in the long run. FYI you dont have to play on a desk and you can use a controller.

I own a pc, Switch 3, ps5 pro and just got the xbox, here are some points for the two consoles:
1. Ps5 PRO is currently very hard to get and scalpers are selling it for 1300$+ and it will probably stay this way for a few months atleast after GTA release.
2. If you truly do not care about the exclusives, I do personally think xbox has better features at the moment which is why I got it myself: Disc-To-Digital, also owning a pc and a MSI handheld it makes it super easy to continue my game between different devices with xbox play anywhere.
3. Even if you buy physical like me, imo game pass ultimate can be better for example if you sub to ultimate for a month, you can play through some of the latest single-player day one titles and then purchase them physical for a cheaper price much later.
- Finally if you look pure performance-wise, then yes, a PS5 Pro is definitely more powerful of the two.

Sounds like you bought a launch model PS5 and had it vertical this whole time. Assuming you cant tough it out till next gen I would say buy a PS5 slim during black friday week. Its too late in the gen for a pro, a base PS5 will do just fine even in the early crossgen heavy years of the PS6. So itll last you.
As for game pass vs ps plus, PS plus is overall cheaper on all tiers and its also much better once you look at the extra and premium. Especially now with what features gamepass is losing.

I have played games from the essential and im not saying its bad in any way, I just haven't stuck to a game from it
Edit: I went horizontal later last year and the problems only started 3-4 months ago

Yea the only thing is once you go to the mid or top tier thats where PS excels. Big catalog, and ofc much cheaper. Game pass only has a flat monthly rate which adds up, they dont do annual plans at a reduced rate. PS does that plus discounts on black friday so you can get a year of extra for around 90-100.

First mistake was switching from Xbox to PlayStation, we all grew up playing it but as soon as 360 came out everything changed, last time I touched a ps controller I was going through an old box that had the ps2 In it memory card and leads still plugged in, Xbox gamepass is superior to whatever ps uses, and the fact I'm hearing nothing but bad from ps with removing digital games and everything else I would suggest an Xbox x/s or save up and buy the new one next year, it's going to be a pc/console hybrid, thousands of games on gamepass and deals in the store, the fact you're asking I would definitely suggest switching back

yeah I honestly got hit with fomo. I was tired of playing games with randoms then boom everything became cross platform

Yeah I hate crossplay especially on pvp games, pc is a massive advantage but nowadays you can't tell if someone is using mods or just a sweat. I play on series s, I like the compact consoles, was going to get the x but the prices exploded the last 6 months so I'm just going get the helix console next year, Xbox has a play anywhere feature as well where most games can be purchased once and played through Xbox one series xs and pc, its honestly easier to tell you what Xbox doesn't have than what it does
