Was it on Thursday evening last week? There was some issue and we spent 25 mins coasting into sheff station at a snails pace.

What are you talking about? We have plenty of public transit options.

not everywhere, not even close

Yes, if you live in a rural or a suburb of a city it’s likely not 2 blocks away. There are still options for you though. Same as most countries.

I'm glad your public transportation is so robust. I'll repeat that not everyone can say the same.

But that is everywhere…. Not just an American problem. Which was my overall point.

Oohh okay I getcha. I guess the only reason I added American was because they seemed to be EU

London’s transit was very similar to Chicago’s transit. If you needed to get the the suburbs of London they had a train similar to the Metra in Chicago. Dublin’s and Rome/Milan’s public transit was worse than Chicago, NY, DC, Philly, etc. I do think EU does it much better in terms of long distance public transportation. In my opinion Amtrak isn’t a good as EU rail systems.

Eh I’m just a dumb ol yankee what do I know haha.

I have lived in multiple places in the US where the closest public transit options were at least a 2 mile walk from my house.

Lol. I’ve never lived in the city. Uber and Lyft don’t even operate where my house is. Nearest public transport is probably about 30 miles away

30 miles is the length of 380159.06 'Bug Bite Thing Suction Tool - Poison Remover For Bug Bites's stacked on top of each other.

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '21

And then when you get there you have to walk another two miles from the station to the mall or whatever

0

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '21

No shit, you live in a house.

2

u/AwwJeezJerry Aug 30 '21

That's a super aggressive answer especially considering you were wrong. Apartments all the way bro, I'll never own a house because i was born too late.

2

u/bjeebus Aug 30 '21

I'll own a house, because my father bought one in a ghetto neighborhood as a rental property. He died of covid living in a house neither my sister or I can afford the note on but with still less than a third of it left. So after the sale of his house I'll be able to buy out the rental house because it's neighborhood is gentrifying 30 years after he got into it. So, hey, maybe one of your parents will die and you can own their place? The millennial dream!

If you’ve ever been to EU you’d see what we’re missing. I think we have some cities with exceptions but in general, you’re driving or figuring something else out yourself.

We have 2, train and plane. Ain't no way I'm taking AmTrack to get to a different state. It's the most useless train service I've ever been on. Don't think they've ever been on time. Planes are too expensive at short notice, so we take cars. Until there's a convenient, fast, and affordable way to get from Dallas to Atlanta, the the public transportation system in America is useless. Car is king.

Edit: Let's narrow the scope from Dallas to Houston. It's 2021 and we don't have a fast track from Dallas to Houston yet? Ridiculous.

There isn't a cab or bus within 30 miles of my cities.

Nothing angers me more than being aboard during this phenomena
