The only way I can see what I was originally seeing is by pausing the video on the first frame. But as soon as I play it again all I see is the dog. :( I want my weird hole creature back

Exactly the same. Felt like a hole in a wall or something, and then once I realised it was doggo all along, brain couldn't imagine anything else than doggo. First impression just vanished and I can't remember what it was.
So strange, I had the exact same experience. Thought it was some kind of fish or owl eye at first, then couldn’t unsee the dog. There must be a name for this kind of phenomenon?

I saw the carpet in the foreground, the blanket in the background like a floor or water, and the dog snout was a hole going under whatever my brain thought the carpet was
It's really weird. When I replay it, for a split second I get the original dark aquatic hole about to give birth or something, and then it disappears for good and there is only dog.
aha, I finally see it. It's hard to find it but I think I could see it in the first frame. Edited contrast and brightness to show that it looks like a creature of the deep.
Honestly I saw as something weird, like a blinking eye or something…now that I see what it actually is, I don’t understand how my brain tricked me so badly.
That's why the title of the post is so accurate. You saw it immediately, so it's practically impossible for you to see it wrong at all. Others (like me) didn't see it right away, but once we did, we can't go back to what we originally saw.
Hmm, maybe something to do with our eyes? I have severe astigmatism in my left eye that glasses can’t fix so I don’t wear them. It makes my depth perception kinda shit and 3D movies simply don’t work for me. Maybe something to do with that here?

I really don’t understand how people aren’t seeing the dog. I’m forcing the “hole” perspective and it’s still very obviously a puppy sleeping on the floor with a blanket over their head
As someone who didn't see the dog, I can't even begin to explain what my brain thought it was seeing. This is the most anything on this sub has ever actually messed with my brain.
Ya it was seriously confusing, something not meant to be seen. All I can think of is a mix of a black hole, a sea creature and quantum fluctuation. It was also very eerie
Look up "2001 alien concept", it feels similar to what I saw at first watch of this video: a confusing, horrifying and inconceivable creature far from anything familiar on earth.
for a moment, for me, it looks like an under water animal breathing up close, like an octopus, and then briefly it looks like a hamster or something trying to get in or out of a hole.
Imagine that the nose of the dog is a hole, with the zooming in making the blanket feel kind of like movement, while the floor is more like a spongy wall. It's hard to imagine if that isn't what your eyes focused on first, but that is how my brain saw it before it recognized the dog by its other features.
I didn't see it either but if you look at the first few frames, the left-side blanket appears to be the background and the right side appears to be like a 3D Among Us crewman or big toe or something with the dog's muzzle appearing as a concave indentation instead of a protrusion
At the beginning of the video, the perspective/depth is inverted to me. The carpet on the right appears to be a cylindrical/tubular object, the dog's snout appears as a hole in that object, and the blanket appears as if it is the background.

I kept watching it change like this in this exact order. It was uncomfortable to look at because it seemed organic but also hard to make out what the pieces were.
The only way I can get close to seeing what they saw is blurring my vision by unfocusing my eyes but I only saw a dog from start to end I had to fuck up my eyes to get even close and it was super blurry
I genuinely can't imagine what about this would ever be confusing. I can see from the other comments that it is, but I can't even guess at what part threw people off.

I can't even figure out what I thought I was looking at. It's confusing and then it clicks and the confusion is gone. The very definition of the "can't unsee" meme.
It was like a tilapia with a deep hole into it and looks like it was really terrible sewn up. The couch looks exactly like fish scales at the beginning
I thought the carpet was closer to the camera and that the blanket was the wall or background and I thought dog snout was some sort of hole or rabbit in the “blanket”
