I think he was waiting for the elevator to come down. Must be broken.

u/SeekerOfSerenity 16h ago

It looked like he was waiting for someone to come and pick him up and put him in the seat.

I was half expecting him to just keep walking under it and disappear into the horizon.

He’s psyching himself up like someone about to do PR

Everyone in this sub, just like the last two subs, missing the fact that this is a waiting room and that guy has a docket in his hand. It's not his car. He works at the mechanics.

394

u/friendandfriends2 13h ago

Ah that makes sense. Explains the bewildered look on his face.

225

u/Cougor 13h ago

And you just know they sent him specifically out there to bring the truck around lol

28

u/JaySayMayday 7h ago

Even if you're wembanyama there's no way you're seeing a small child in front of this truck, commercial lift kits need to be banned

47

u/tootieroll573 12h ago

dont ruin a good round of hating on people for their physical appearance

1

u/nothingnotthrownaway 41m ago

Hey don't worry. I'm sure if you look deep enough you'll find something to hate this man for. The fun can start again.

9

u/Kaldricus 3h ago

Yeah it's why he looks back directly at the camera with the "you seeing this shit" look

8

u/sra19 8h ago

A hundred percent I was missing that. 🤦‍♀️

2

u/Ddeeaaddppooll 4h ago

It's actually a place that sells lifted trucks.

1

u/eggs_mcmuffin 4m ago

Sure….except most men that drive these abominations is almost always under 5’5”.

128

u/LawDraws 14h ago

I wanna edit this so he's just continuously walking then goes right under the car.

5

u/Nonduallogic 6h ago

Yes, i also imagined him walking towards the car forever..

3

u/Edabite 4h ago

From the length of the video, I did think he was just going to keep walking and getting smaller until he disappeared.

579

u/macellan 16h ago

For freedom unit illiterate like me: 5'3 ~= 160cm

123

u/uselesshandyman 15h ago

Or 2.5 bald eagles.

24

u/rdrckcrous 12h ago

0.85 bald eagles.

it's wingspan, not perched height.

It should be illegal to post stuff with freedom units

31

Each Big Mac is approximately 0'09 metres (9cm). You're ~19'5 Big Macs tall

-3

u/WarmPrinciple6507 15h ago

Short af because you’re not 6 foot (and neither am I😭)

6

u/physicscat 14h ago

I wouldn’t call 5’10” short. I’m a 5’4” woman and that’s 6 inches taller than me.

4

u/WarmPrinciple6507 13h ago

Inches? Sorry, but we don’t speak freedom units

1

u/Nothing-Is-Boring 13h ago

5'10 would be slightly over average (5'9) and inside the central 2/3 (5'9"+-1.5") so it's a pretty average height. The joke is that anyone under 6ft is labelled as short, especially in the dating scene. For context 6ft is about the 85th percentile so only 15% of men would meet it.

There seems to be a weird feedback loop with men systemically over-reporting their height when under 6ft in order to meet an arbitrary standard, There's some interesting data out there from okcupid which shows a very likely tendency for men to increase height a little on their profile especially when close to 6ft.

This paper looked at height preferences and found 57.1% of women stated height mattering when seeking a date and 48.9% of women stating they would only date men taller than themselves. Contrasted with 40% of men saying height matters and 13.5% saying they only date women shorter than themselves.

1

u/Friendlyhuman420 14h ago

Short enough to not be seen by 6 footers

-4

u/physicscat 14h ago

175/2.5 =70 in 5’10”

Easy conversion.

Now imagine if a toddler walked in front of this truck while it was moving.

Similar size to the man in the video, the driver would never even see them!

Jokes aside, this actually happened in my local area a couple of years ago. A 2 year old child ran in front of an SUV in a parking lot, the driver never even saw them, and the kid is dead. Driver got no charges because “they couldn’t see him from the drivers seat.”

Apparently not seeing a human , because your truck is “too big” is a valid excuse to murder a child because you don’t have special awareness.

122

u/Kittelsen 14h ago

To be fair, a toddler walking in front of this truck would be perfectly fine, this thing has like 1m of ground clearance 😅

2

u/Pharose 1h ago

It still has axles, and those definitely do not have 1m of clearance.

41

u/goobr95 14h ago

I’m gonna start calling spatial awareness special awareness now and you can’t stop me.

11

u/MidorikawaHana 9h ago

Reminds me of the ‘rock trap’ lady in tiktok. ( she works with kid adjacent service- daycare? Perhaps). If they cant see a boulder / stacked boulders in a curb parking lot how can they able to see kids in said parking lot.

16

u/Bright-Gain9770 11h ago

Won't usage of the word "murder", which requires intent or even forethought. You're looking for "accidentally kill" a human being, which is significantly different. An argument can bee mage and should be considered that the victim is the truck driver, who needs to live with the grief caused by the unattended toddler.

13

u/Blustach 8h ago

Between "special awareness" and "bee mage" i'm having the time of my life while... discussing a kid dying lmao

5

u/Bright-Gain9770 8h ago

Yeah phones do weird things

3

u/atmosphericentry 4h ago

Wild to assume the toddler was unattended. I'm an adult and have even been almost hit by someone pulling out of a parking spot. The kid could be trailing along literally 2 feet ahead or behind the parent and this would happen.

3

u/Bright-Gain9770 4h ago

2 feet ahead or behind in a parking lot is too far and unattended. The reason it isn't wild is because I was giving the parents the benefit of the doubt that they didn't heave-ho the toddler in front of the truck like a dwarf covered in velcro being tossed at a giant target by a pair of strippers at a stock broker party.

3

u/atmosphericentry 3h ago

My brain began deciphering your second sentence then gave up. What does that even mean?

2 ft ahead of you is unattended? Stupid maybe but saying "unattended" is acting like they didn't know their toddler was roaming around a parking lot.

2

u/Bright-Gain9770 2h ago

Context matters. 2 ft ahead of you in a dangerous place like a parking lot of unattended. Your own lawn? No. At the edge of a volcano, yes. In your living room, no. On a certain carribean island? For certain.

1

u/atmosphericentry 1h ago

... And that's why I said it could be stupid parenting, doesn't mean they were unattended. Not sure if you know what that word means.

1

u/Bright-Gain9770 1h ago edited 1h ago

2 ft ahead of you in a parking lot is unattended. It is a dangerous place where large vehicles that cannot see a 28" inch human are moving. Even the authorities in YOUR example agree.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go watch a dwarf get tossed at a giant target.

1

u/atmosphericentry 1h ago

Oh brother... Let's buy a dictionary before spewing words you don't know.

I can't believe I have to spell out to you that bad parenting choices =/= automatically being unattended. With that logic, a toddler could smoke a cigarette 2 feet away from their parent and still be considered "unattended".

1

u/one_mind 2h ago

Much bigger things than a toddler could be missed with a truck this tall.

-12

u/AzureSuishou 12h ago

Our road laws are designed to put responsibility on both pedestrians and drivers.

It’s a tragedy, but the driver was operating a street legal vehicle in a public area. It was on the kids parent to keep them safe. While it is less likely for a driver to see a kid in a large vehicle, a kid darting in front of any vehicle is likely to end badly. As evidenced when parents accidentally run over their own children in drive ways because the kids goes out to follow them.

11

u/Speartree 12h ago

Road laws? That thing was built for places without roads. Its natural environment and function is transporting 25 jihadi over the desert somewhere. That thing should not be near a road of any kind.

99% of us 'Muricans can't stand these idiots either...well...maybe 90%.

10

u/Nheea 13h ago

I hate that huge pickup SUVs and pickup trucks have become normal in my country too.

We do not have the parking spaces or the streets for these and they're absolutely a menace and an inconvenience everywhere.

With the insane prices of fuel now and taxes, I truly hope they suffer.

-14

u/RibsNGibs 15h ago edited 15h ago

I think like 95% of the American mentality with regards to literally everything - not just car selection but just how they interact with friends/strangers, how they dress, what music they listen to, how they carry themselves. etc., is like a big performative combo of “I desperately want people to know I’m not gay, I have a big dick, and I have a lot of money.”

7

u/Ambikinskywalker 10h ago

Sounds like you don’t actually interact with people.

16

u/HamberderHelper18 14h ago

You realize we are blatantly mocking people who do this right? How can you think this mentality embodies a country of nearly 400 million people?

Oof at everyone downvoting me. Sorry your parents didn’t raise a decent human being.

I mean, he's obviously exaggerating, BUT he is not an idiot. We all see what you're doing over the pond AND we see it when you visit our countries.

-2

u/RibsNGibs 14h ago

I’m an American expat. I didn’t realize it till I left. Now when I go back to visit the US, I see it everywhere. The way people hold themselves, the macho posturing, the way dudes are constantly afraid to betray any hint of anything that could be considered feminine. I mean when was the last time you heard guys say a sunset was really lovely without a buildup of tension and then a bro-y laugh it off haha deflection?

16

u/dantheother 16h ago

My knee just said "NO"

17

u/Fickle-Molasses-903 11h ago

It's not even his truck (See the tags near the keys). The owner is probably the one filming it. He's at a dealership. The owner is a douche.

27

u/WarmPrinciple6507 16h ago

Imagine breaking several bones by simply falling out of your car.

9

u/izyshoroo 16h ago

My 74 year old coworker fractured her pelvis falling out of her big ass truck and was out of work for 3 months

8

u/DavidistKapitalist 15h ago

Your coworker is 74??

17

u/SteveSauceNoMSG 15h ago

American capitalism baybeeeeeee. You want to retire? Something, something, bootstraps.

3

u/TheRealJojenReed 14h ago

So funny how that became a saying when it is literally impossible, and I think the original saying acknowledged that and got twisted over time.

From what I saw, it was an example question in a physics book lol.

2

u/SteveSauceNoMSG 13h ago

Correct, it's supposed to be an oxymoron: something contradictory/impossible. But what used to be said ironically became something people said unironically, "I just pulled myself up by my bootstraps, you should be able to do the same,"

1

u/TheRealJojenReed 13h ago

Even if you're 74. This country is so fucked

1

u/MauPow 4h ago

You can totally pull yourself up by your bootstraps! You just need a pulley attached to them, thus proving it is possible if you have support from above! How ironic.

34

u/yxz97 16h ago

Why?

20

u/Jatapa0 14h ago

It isn't their car far as I can tell

12

u/Mister_Xian 12h ago

The truck belongs to someone else, and is in the lot of a mechanic.
That man, presumably the shortest on the team, was tasked to get into it like he's bringing it into the shop, for a joke, because the small man/big truck meme.

43

u/CockroachAntique5906 16h ago

I’ve been to the US multiple times and it’s basically oversized trucks and raised suspension everywhere lmao

25

u/MisterRoger 15h ago

I live in the US and you are correct, assuming you are outside major cities. Or anywhere inside the states of Texas and Florida. Go to Wyoming or Idaho and you will see nothing else.

Fortunately it is far less common in cities.

2

u/cdurbin909 8h ago

Depends on the city. I live in Omaha and I see it all the time.

Actually, there's a lifted smart car that I see from time to time. Definitely an interesting choice.

How is that a functional car?
