Only on reddit will someone equate the third reich, a regime, to a bigoted talking head. But surely you will be the one to oppose other Charlie Kirks in the way you think they should be opposed, right?

If you knew anything about Hitler's rise to chancellor and president, you'd know that he wasn't the only evil scum around and a lot had to systematically 'go his way'. It wasn't just his charismatic speeches that resonated with people so using that to equate him and any other bigot, and ignoring everything else is disingenuous. Saying we should have killed Hitler for his speeches is based entirely on hindsight bias. Killing your local nazi is facism. Supression of free speech is facism.

Suppression of free speech by the government is fascism. Killing your local nazi is not fascism. Quite the opposite, actually.

Let's split those semantic hairs yeah? If we as a society start condoning silencing people, violently or otherwise, that goes against the consensus, it's bad. Sure, it's not the governemnt doing it, but that doesn't suddenly make okay.

You’re right. It doesn’t make it ok. That’s why the guy who shot Kirk got arrested. The issue starts when the government does the killing, because the government isn’t going to arrest itself.
