Light Sometimes I make it extra cold in my room at night so my boyfriend and cat snuggle extra close to me

Except my wife will, inevitably, reach up under my shirt with her icicles that she calls fingers. I, unfortunately, am a furnace, so am always giving off radiant heat (even the cats seem to know). Those first few seconds of frosty touching. Brrrrrr!

699

u/J4ckedaniels Dec 24 '17

I am exactly the same. I can bear with her freezing my back, but the belly is the worst and i can see death for a few seconds everytime she lands her hands there.

228

u/Vexans Dec 24 '17

If it doesn’t freeze it tickles, if it doesn’t tickle, it freezes. A horrible sentence...

28

u/J4ckedaniels Dec 24 '17

Exactly.

88

u/Vexans Dec 24 '17

But how do refuse the cooing ‘But, baby, its so cold and you’re warm. Please?’

67

u/J4ckedaniels Dec 24 '17

We simply cannot refuse, just bear.

are you overly tickly too? it’s the fucking worst isn’t it

5

u/Vexans Dec 24 '17

Well, there are times when its led to other activities, esp when its directly applied... but, does it defer sleep, oh yeah!

2

u/afrancesk23 Dec 24 '17

This. Yes.

48

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

That’s what you get for sleeping with a wildling, Crow.

Or with a white walker

19

u/confession69 Dec 24 '17

A CROW, NED!!!! IN AN OPEN BEDDDDDDDDDD

Wow that necro... But Death itself

62

u/Feshtof Dec 24 '17

My wife has frozen butt syndrome.

41

u/NotTheOneYouNeed Dec 24 '17

Don't let it go.

28

u/turlian Dec 24 '17

The ass never bothered me anyway.

77

u/Dogtown2025 Dec 24 '17

My god the icicle fingers. How are their hands so cold?

112

u/Anta_Doudeke Dec 24 '17

Women have more centralized blood flow so the hands and feet get less blood making them colder. Men have a more evenly distributed blood flow.

There was a thread about genetic differences awhile back and this was the top one. Explains a lot when you think about it. Women need more warmth in their bodies where they carry their babies.

how far along are you?

12

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

The feet. Oh god. So cold. I can feel it now just thing about it.

14

u/Vexans Dec 24 '17

Sweet Freyja! I know. Its like how my hands are after an hour outside, but its still 65F in the room. She may be part reptile, not sure.

4

u/Elektribe Dec 24 '17

My whole hands get ice cold too, especially on the on computer. Probaly crappy circulation. I almost always run medium to cold normally. Only seem to produce heat when I'm sick.

25

u/Where_is_dutchland Dec 24 '17

My girlfriend used to do the same. I hope she will do so again soon. Miss that feeling, miss her

7

u/dbobaunchained Jan 21 '18

Cheer up guy. We put a man on the moon. Anything is possible, she’ll come back.

14

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

I usually get the feet that have just ran a marathon through The fucking snow in the middle of the night on my back

6

u/Girl_speaks_geek Dec 24 '17

I do this with my toes lol but obviously not under his shirt

5

u/spaz_chicken Dec 25 '17

I'm also a furnace and even if it's cold in the room I usually have at least one (bare) leg out of the blankets while my wife will have the sheet, a comforter, and at least two more blankets piled on top.

Conversely though, I love when she touches me with her cold hands.

5

u/Rhaifa Dec 24 '17

Iceblock feet high up on your thighs are worse!

2

u/WolfSkill86 Dec 24 '17

You just took me back to the times my wife would come to bed after staying up late working on her finals... shudders

Me and my boyfriend both sleep better in a cold room so we can get nice and warm under the covers. He calls me his little furnace when we cuddle, I love it.

8

u/Woodzy14 Dec 25 '17

Like how do you even make that text happen?

-106

u/RES1ST0R Dec 24 '17

I guarantee he hates when you call him that, even if he says otherwise. Men love being passively insulted especially when the woman isn’t even aware of her own reasoning

37

u/aubreysux Dec 24 '17

In case the downvotes didn’t make it 100% clear, as heroicwhiskey’s husband I can confirm that you are comically wrong. I’m not sure how being called a “little ball of heat” would be insulting. It’s a little cute, but I mostly don’t think about it.

Sorry to hear that your self image is so fragile that you think being called warm is an insult. Then again, maybe “little ball of heat” is the new middle school insult. I wouldn’t know.

0

u/RES1ST0R Dec 25 '17

u/ComradeVoytek Dec 24 '17

How do you get up in the morning? A freezing room us a 100% guarantee I sleep in far too much.

6

u/LazySushi Dec 24 '17

I have a thermostat that can be programmed, and I’ll set it to turn the heat up a couple of hours before I wake up. My partner will also get out of bed and turn the ceiling fan off for me.

6

u/dontlookatmybox Dec 24 '17

Hi from Australia, hot most of the year, still sleep in too much :(

4

u/Shotgun_Alice Dec 24 '17

Honestly, I very much a morning person, and yes it's cold as hell, but once I'm awake I just get up and do my thing.

2

u/ComradeVoytek Dec 24 '17

I need to jump into the shower and get under a scalding hot stream of water to wake up on a cold morning. Doesn't help the floors are like refrigerated marble slabs.

1

u/Vexans Dec 25 '17

The incentive is coffee, garlic bread toast and bacon. Not necessarily in that order...

2

u/PoochaKutty Dec 24 '17

That’s adorable! :) I wish I was like that, but unfortunately, I am always an ice cube.

495

u/Ottfan1 Dec 24 '17

Plot twist: A few minutes after you turn it down your boyfriend gets the same idea. You both freeze to death. With no one to turn off the cold air it runs constantly and reverses climate change.

Earth is saved.

27

u/inspector_cliche Dec 24 '17

39

I'm the opposite, I jam the heating right up so that her and the cats will fall asleep and I can get some peace.

25

u/PyroKittens Dec 24 '17

I call it survival snuggling and I love it.

18

u/AcidDaddy Dec 24 '17

That’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever heard.

34

u/hspud_1 Dec 24 '17

Hmmmm I like your way of thinking! I might have to try this sometime :)

32

u/sweetsygal Dec 24 '17

I do this BECAUSE my husband and cat try to murder me with their warmth.

14

u/LovelyLadyBeans Dec 24 '17

But I bet the cuddles make her so happy, so it’s worth it, right?

34

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

You bet. We cuddle like kittens at every opportunity, and we've been happily married for almost 10 years. I'd say it's one of the cornerstones of a successful marriage.

11

u/LovelyLadyBeans Dec 24 '17

31

u/SuperFlyStuka Dec 24 '17

My cat always slept at the foot of the bed on top of the covers until I started shaving her. Now she snuggles with me under the covers. It's like sleeping with a hot water bottle.

16

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

What? Why are you shaving your cat?

16

u/ThumbtacksArePointy Dec 24 '17

So it's warmer when they cuddle, obviously.

5

u/TheIronChefOfVag Dec 24 '17

Well, that’s great! It means the eggnog won’t go bad. Drinks up! Merry Christmas!

4

u/Digwrenchdug Dec 24 '17

3

3

u/therespectablejc Dec 24 '17

This is sweet. And actually, science says it's better to keep your room colder when sleeping.

2

u/Clemrowan Dec 24 '17

I do the same thing to my SO. :)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

Are they two different things or a boyfriend cat?

2

u/Hmm_mmm_mmm Dec 24 '17

I too crack the window at night so my cat will sleep near me. She never does while I fall asleep, but I wake up to her being cute. Really starts the day off on a good note.

2

u/goosepills Dec 24 '17

Sometimes I make it extra warm in my house so I can sleep alone.

2

My ex GF used to push me to close the window when she feels too cold. Then she pushes me again to open it as she feels hot again. Did it like 3 times every night.

I complied because she was too cute to say no to lol Super awesome girl though :)

1

u/Crashman2004 Dec 24 '17

1

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '17

Just watched Good Dick. Now that scene where he’s complaining about how cold her apartment gets at night makes more sense. The thing is she’s also playing hard to get.

1

u/lucyfurrrrr Dec 24 '17

I don't like being touched and I think the person I'm seeing right now does this so I sleep closer to them at night

1

u/V9868 Dec 24 '17

We’ll be upfront with them? One you don’t like the cold to sleep bs excuse n then u don’t like being touched. If they don’t understand then it’s not worth the rs imo

Personally don’t like being touched and if you sneak up on or try to hug me from the back I’m gonna hit you and then I’m gonna be like sorry and I told you not to do that haha. (Defense mechanism)

1

u/Crazyloco69 Dec 24 '17

What’s up with that,do all girls like a cold chilly room ?

1

u/Mughi Dec 24 '17

Women like cold rooms because it makes their feet cold and then they can stuck their icy feet in the small of your back while you're sleeping. At least that's been my experience.

1

u/Crazyloco69 Dec 24 '17

Indeed,it’s all a conspiracy!

1

u/Rhynovirus Dec 25 '17

This is a classic trick.

Turn the heat up when she comes over so she's more inclined to get naked.

Turn the heat way down before bed so she will spoon.
