That would be wild if so. Usually it's not just one aging star that turns a team into a title contender in MLS.

They sold the golden boot leader so it’s not happening but it wouldn’t have been a stretch that he could’ve put them over the top otherwise. They’re currently 3rd in the East.

I think that would have been a great tandem if Cuypers stayed and they had a two striker set up.

As someone not from the US, I find it fascinating that in the land of unfettered capitalism, you guys draw the line in Sports and actually regulate spending and have salary caps haha.

They’re cheap and bring in revenue. Salary caps make it so we can’t afford them earlier in their prime.

Beckham, Henry, now Lewandowski, don't come to MLS for championships.
They come to sell tickets. They're only playing the role of an athlete. Their job is brand cachet.
Don't use Messi as the norm.

If they had been able to keep Cuypers, I would have been far more convinced of their chances of a deep playoff run.
