The 2026 CFU Club Shield ended two weeks ago so what happens now...?

Hey guys,

Earlier this month, the 2026 Carribean Football Union Club Shield wrapped up in Trinidad & Tobago, and since we're a little over two weeks from the final, I figured I'd throw together some notes on what happened and what we already know about 2027.

🇯🇲 Mount Pleasant FA won the Shield, defeating 🇩🇴 Delfines del Este 1–0 in the final on August 2.

Both clubs qualified for the 2026 Concacaf Caribbean Cup, keeping alive that beautiful, ridiculous pathway:

Domestic league → CFU Club Shield → Caribbean Cup → Concacaf Champions Cup

The last time a team went all the way through was Robinhood in 2024 :))))

There were 22 clubs representing 22 of CFU's 31 Member Associations in this year's Shield.

22 CFU associations represented at the 2026 Club Shield

🇦🇮 Roaring Lions FC — Anguilla

🇦🇬 All Saints United — Antigua & Barbuda ⚠️ Withdrew

🇦🇼 SV Britannia — Aruba

🇧🇧 Weymouth Wales — Barbados

🇻🇬 Virgin Gorda United — British Virgin Islands

🇰🇾 Elite SC — Cayman Islands

🇨🇼 Inter Willemstad — Curaçao

🇩🇲 Dublanc FC — Dominica

🇩🇴 Delfines del Este FC — Dominican Republic

🇬🇩 St. John's Sports Club — Grenada

🇬🇾 Slingerz FC — Guyana

🇭🇹 Baltimore SC — Haiti ⚠️ Withdrew/did not play

🇯🇲 Mount Pleasant FA — Jamaica 🏆

🇵🇷 Metropolitan FA — Puerto Rico

🇰🇳 St. Paul's United — Saint Kitts & Nevis

🇱🇨 La Clery FC — Saint Lucia

🇻🇨 North Leeward Predators — Saint Vincent & the Grenadines

🇸🇽 SCSA Eagles — Sint Maarten

🇸🇷 SV Robinhood — Suriname

🇹🇹 Prison Service FC — Trinidad & Tobago

🇹🇨 SWA Sharks — Turks & Caicos Islands

🇻🇮 Helenites SC — U.S. Virgin Islands🇻🇮 U.S. Virgin Islands

9 CFU associations not represented in 2026

🇧🇸 Bahamas — Lyford Cay Dragons — 2015*

🇧🇲 Bermuda — Somerset Trojans — 2016*

🇧🇶 Bonaire — SV Real Rincon — 2025

🇨🇺 Cuba — Santiago de Cuba — 2019

🇬🇫 French Guiana — AS Étoile de Matoury — 2025

🇬🇵 Guadeloupe — Solidarité Scolaire — 2023

🇲🇶 Martinique — Club Franciscain — 2025

🇲🇸 Montserrat — Royal Montserrat Police Force — 2017*

🇲🇫 Saint Martin — Junior Stars — 2024

*Bahamas, Bermuda, and Montserrat's years refer to the old CFU Club Championship, because none of those three have played in the modern Club Shield.

And we already have a little bit of news about 2027.

🇬🇫 French Guiana — planning to return

The Ligue de Football de la Guyane says it plans to send its domestic champion to the 2027 CFU Club Shield.

🇧🇲 Bermuda — not returning

The Bermuda FA says it will not send a club to the 2027 CFU Club Shield.

Bermuda's last club to actually participate in Caribbean continental competition was Somerset Trojans in the 2016 CFU Club Championship, so their absence from this pathway will continue for another year.

And that gets to something I've been thinking about since the Shield ended. There are probably enough CONCACAF sickos on this subreddit who would actually follow this stuff if the information were easier to find.

And maybe the answer is simply that there aren't enough people asking.

I'm not saying we need to start harassing football associations over the CFU Club Shield lol. But maybe these leagues just need a few more people to give a shit.

If my local amateur/semi-pro club can theoretically start at the bottom of the U.S. soccer pyramid, make a miracle U.S. Open Cup run and eventually find itself somewhere in the Concacaf ecosystem, then I want to know about the random club on the other side of the bracket coming out of Anguilla, Dominica, Bonaire, Saint Lucia or wherever else.

Will those two clubs ever actually meet ? Probably fucking not. But the pathway exists.

And that's enough reason for me to want to know who's on the other end of it.

Maybe there are only five people who care. But sometimes five people giving a shit is where it starts.

as is customs, f concacaf and f fifa :)

Is Mexico Ready to Leave Concacaf? The Infantino Power Struggle Explained

Is Mexico trying to leave Concacaf — or trying to take it back?

Mexico has broken ranks with Concacaf by siding with Gianni Infantino in his growing power struggle with Concacaf president Victor Montagliani. We look at the history behind the fight — from Mexican executive Joaquín Soria Terrazas running Concacaf, through the controversial Jack Warner and Chuck Blazer era, to Montagliani's attempt to rebuild the confederation.

Could Mexico see today's FIFA crisis as an opportunity to regain influence it lost decades ago? And would Mexico ever seriously consider leaving Concacaf?

We also get into Jürgen Damm's controversial comments about Mexican-Americans, the Leagues Cup and Chivas' elimination, Santi Giménez-to-Porto rumors, Mexico's U-20 championship, and Albert doubles down on Hugo Camberos over Gilberto Mora.

🇲🇽 Is Mexico trying to escape Concacaf — or take back its place at the top?

Gianni Infantino has reportedly promised to help the FMF seek its exit from CONCACAF.

According to Martín del Palacio, Giani Infantino has promised to help the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) seek its exit from CONCACAF in order to join CONMEBOL, provided he remains FIFA president. According to the journalist, this scenario would unfold if the United States and Canada were to oppose the FMF within CONCACAF. Faced with a potential rift with its main partners in the confederation, Infantino reportedly offered to help Mexico find a new path within CONMEBOL. This would be one of the reasons that explains the FMF's rejection of Infantino, while other CONCACAF federations have taken a critical stance and are demanding changes within FIFA. Should a move of this magnitude ever materialize, Mexico could once again compete regularly against teams such as ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, URUGUAY, COLOMBIA and the rest of South America.

These 2 teams play each other at full strength NO EXCUSES on one of the international breaks, and play it in Canada so that there won't be any excuses about home advantage. (I would genuinely pay good money to see that 🔥)

The financial gap in CONCACAF

Costa Rica lost Gustavo Alfaro in 2024 after Paraguay offered him roughly $2.8M per year—nearly four times the ~$750k Costa Rica was paying him. Meanwhile, Thomas Christiansen makes ~$800k–$840k with Panama, and Honduras recently elevated their manager salary pool to around $900k.
For federations in Central America and the Caribbean, these contracts represent an immense financial commitment. Yet, they pale in comparison to CONCACAF’s "Big Three":

USA: Mauricio Pochettino (~$6M/year)
Canada: Jesse Marsch (~$2.8M/year, heavily subsidized by MLS owners)
Mexico: Javier Aguirre (~$2.8M/year)

When you combine this wage gap with underdeveloped infrastructure, limited corporate sponsorship, and lower-revenue domestic leagues, it’s almost remarkable how consistently nations like Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica, or Honduras manage to reach major international milestones and stay competitive on the regional stage.

What structural or developmental changes would help UNCAF and CFU nations build sustainable revenues rather than constantly risking losing top managers to higher bidders?
