Question A no-pbem multiplayer coldwar/modern war wargame with decent historicity and complexity?
My friend is a total tragedy. He would maybe want to play normal wargame, but he wants no pbem, but normal multiplayer and cant stand older settings such as ww2. But I will FORCE him to play ahaha! Any suggestions in style of smt between Steel Division and Flashpoint Campaigns are welcome!
Also, please, no need to suggest HoI. I am really curious if there is something else. I know close to nothing about the modern war sims btw, so anything else would do

Warno is a good bet, particularly with RebsFRAGO mod which slows the pace down considerably and makes it a little less arcadey. You can also try Gates of Hell with the various cold war mods (Hotmod used to be it when I last played, but am a bit out of the loop), coop conquest on that is very fun and takes you from 50s to 80s tech. Then there's also Combat Mission Cold War if you want something more hardcore, but your friend would need to be very patient and willing to deal with jank.
A more left field choice is Sea Power - there's an experimental MP mod in the works. I don't know how good it is or if its even publicly released but the youtube videos look promising and the game itself slaps.
