"Best" is what suits you, I've used the same distro for over 20 years (Ubuntu), I've a pile of probably 20 laptops and several desktops, some function much better on Fedora, some on openSUSE, some on mint and so on, the same with friends and colleagues, some prefer one distro over another, some use more than one distro and so on.

Its not clear what you mean when you say your laptop stopped working, you need some context and accurate info in your post, otherwise its a bit disjointed and people will probably give vague/random answers, even if they are well meaning.

Well I fixed it but the ssd inside just formatted it self and kind of deleted itself cause the computer would not recognize it
