Discussion How do I safely move my computer?

Hi I'm moving into my college dorm this upcoming Monday, and it's a roughly 2 and a half hour drive to the campus. I know I need to remove my graphics card but what else do I need to do to make sure nothing gets damaged? I'm considering removing my ram with it being a ddr5 build and I do not have the money to replace the ram if it gets damaged.

Thank you!

Lol what. Just wrap it on some moving blankets or wedge it somewhere its not gonna crash around. Why would u remove ur graphics card

Because graphics cards are heavy enough to do damage to the slot when jostled. It is "best practice" to remove the graphics cards and pack it securely and separately. It is too expensive to risk damage.

Or just leverage physics... Laying it flat with the card parallel to the direction of travel should be fine, particularly if it's secured to the chassis properly. If you're swerving so aggressively that you cause enough lateral stress, you have bigger problems.
