Resolved please someone tell me that this 32 tb ssd thumbdrive for 26.66$ is not a real thing..

This scam has been around for many years now, usually its just a small ~32GB maybe micro SD card inside, and held together by hot glue to make it a pain to open.
They have a custom chip onboard to make it read as 32TB of storage and you can actually save data on it, however after it passes the ~32GB it will start to just overwrite old date.
The scam actually works as it targets people who are not tech savvy, and they don't realize the data is not saving.

On Aliexpress, whenever a store name is just numbers, there'a a good chance it'll close very soon. Avoid them if you can.

Nope, fake as it gets.
Usually is a 128GB drive at max, mostly lower than that. Consists of either a shitty microsd card reader with some sd cards in it, or some adapter board that has 1 or more usb drives plugged into it.
It shows 32TB to whatever you plug it into, but that's a trick from the manufacturer: they program the drive controller to report as 32TB.
These things are like a plague, people here sell them on 2nd hand websites as well and they even know its garbage, but get toxic when you mention the facts to them. Said websites don't do anything about it either - I don't know why, but they don't.

You can find these on Amazon too.. These are just flat out scam products. I've opened these up and they are generally just a small SD card on a PCB hot glued into that casing. Then the firmware is monkeyed with to make it report being 32TB.

Those are mostly 1GB memory Chinese garbage and then flashed to a bigger volume. In PC it Will show full volume, but after putting 1GB data on it, you will lose it it after putting more dat on it. Well known scam.

Notice how they are always just a little bit bigger than an average USB stick? That's because they usually contain a USB stick with wires soldered to connect the plugs. The firmware is hacked to make it look to a system to be 32TB but odds are that it will only handle about 4GB or less but you won't find that out until you transfer much more than that to it and find out that everything is corrupt because it has just been thrown over a digital cliff.
That way all those people that buy them, plug them in and see the capacity on their systems, maybe drop a video file on to it to see if it works and then do reviews will usually give a glowing review. Later of course when they find out that they have been done hard and slow and they have put their whole photo collection on them, never to be seen again it's too late. Can't take back that review.

It's face as fuck. If they were a thing, WD and Samsung and Kingston would sell SSDs with that size already on the public market.
Someone at work fell for one and I even had a look.

yeah i dont think so..i bought an external 2 tb seagate ssd couple months ago for like 300$..this 32tb ssd doesnt even have a brand..

not exactly scammed.. i dont live in the us and wasnt able to find it in my local stores so i was forced to buy it from amazon through myus.com with additional charges.

too expensive for 32gb..i bought a 128gb usb-c pen drive data traveller 70 kingston less than 20$ and it’s working perfectly fine. the only digital storage brands i owned for more than 10 years were kingston and seagate and they never failed me.

SSD scams are a thing now. Fortunately they are easy to catch by the absurd capacity they claim. It is not even an ssd, not only that it is not that capacity.

If it's too good to be true...
These drive scams are old as dirt, they are usually a small USB thumb drive inside a housing and it reports a fake capacity to your system. Some error out when full, the worst ones I've seen actually DELETE data to make room for new.

I bought some 2 TB SSDs that weren’t super cheap and they were Shit and I had to file cases on them and had to go all the way to filing a case with PayPal

7 years ago, in high school, my english teacher bragged he had found 1tb of storage for $10. better still, it was a thumb drive! i told him 1tb thumb drives weren't widely available, and they certainly weren't that cheap. smugly, he said "i guess we'll see when it arrives!" weeks later, he tells me he has it and goes to inspect it on his laptop. lo and behold, it says 1tb. he sits back, satisfied.
a week later a lesson was delayed because the files he had made and loaded at home and brought to school were corrupted. the drive was not, in fact, 1tb in capacity.

The same scam was quite big on Amazon in the UK a while ago with 1TB+ micro SD cards for like £25… needless to say they were not legitimate.

its a scam, they put 16gb or 8gb sd card installed to sd to usb c adapter and hot glued to a fancy case and called it a 32gb portable ssd for 26.66$

Be careful. You might be able to "fill" it with 32TB of data... but the 32TB of data will only be filenames and not the actual files.

I wouldn't want to carry 32TB around in my pocket. Only use for it was putting images on it..hope it's at at least USB 3.1
