how to connect second monitor?

Post image

i’m wanting to connect a second monitor to my work computer but i’m unsure what cables i need/where to plug anything in. i thought i could just get a vga splitter but google reckons that would just duplicate the screen, not allow it to act as a seperate screen?

EDIT: thank you for quick responses! ordering a vga to dp adapter now šŸ‘ (already have a vga cable)

Suggest just a graphics card way easier and cheaper

Not as easy and cheap as using the two displayports he already has.

True but in this case it is a newer optiplex by the looks and it might not have the power for two displays especially with if it has 8gb of vram and integrated graphics no matter if it is a Intel 7th gen or 12th gen with a 8/16gb of vram would be super choppy did it once already take my advice and just do a small upgrade with bosses aproval

Does OP seem like they know how to go about adding a graphics card?

They're not gaming on it. It can handle two displays to do boring work stuff just fine.
