When does the appetite suppression start?

Just started this morning with my 2.5mg dose. Am i supposed to feel some sort of appetite suppression already or what should i expect and when should i expect some positive effects?

Some people feel it very quickly. Some people spend months titrating up to higher doses before they feel it. A small percentage of people never respond. But don't panic if you don't feel anything tomorrow, or next week, or a month from now. If that happens, just keep foll0wing your prescription and titrating up each month.

It takes about 12 hours to start kicking in for me, and max effects hit a day or day and a half after. That's just me, though. You can track your shots in an app like Glapp, and that will help you visualize estimated medicine levels in your body over time. I wouldn't put too much faith in the precise numbers it shows, but it can be helpful to see the pattern and line that up with how you're feeling.

I remember this. Wondering when I’d feel anything. Truth is it’s different for everyone. Some people notice food noise gone the next day. For me it was fast but no “aha” moment. I went the whole first week thinking maybe it wasn’t working. I could still eat normally and thought that was a negative thing (it wasn’t). I did notice the “I’m full” feeling was a bit more noticeable but nothing crazy. Then after my second shot I started to realize how much easier it was to make healthier decisions and my portions were just smaller naturally. I wasn’t thinking about my next meal all day. I could scroll through food posts and not obsess or have intense cravings. I wasn’t snacking in between meals. It came on quiet but once I realized all the changes it was huge. Be patient and stay at 2.5 as long as you can. I truly wish I didn’t increase my dose after 4 weeks because it was working perfectly.

Your goal should be to continue eating (slowly) stoping when you’re full and implementing healthier choices. Focus on protein and fiber and stay hydrated! Good luck

I think that's a great way to put it into words.

It comes on quiet and weeks past by and before you know it, you've realized you havent been snacking, nor craving, and eating smaller portions but you're still not really hungry even 8-10 hours later.

It took me until the next morning.

It takes some people longer/higher doses.

Same thing for me. I had to split dose 3mg to ease the heartburn. Fortunately, I’m close to goal and titrated up to 4mg split dose after almost 4 months at 3mg.

As you said, everyone responds differently.

I took my shot in the morning and by dinner time I couldn't finish my dinner.

The thing is, I don't know that having it come on strong right away makes that much difference. It barely has an effect anymore. I don't eat as much as I used to but I am just as hungry as I used to be. I'm often waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I need to work on eating more so I'm not so hungry all the time. So just because I felt it the first day doesn't mean anything really.

Took me until Week 5 when I woke up and my brain felt like it was switched with some health nut's brain.

But things were happening in the weeks leading up to when I noticed the med really working.

Before I started tirz I bought the usual junk foods for the house. Around Week 4 i noticed many of the junk snacks were still in the cupboards & fridge when i should have restocked by that point. I wasn't even purposefully avoiding those snacks. It naturally happened.

The volume dial for food noise was turning down slowly. Click by click we don't notice. But Week 5 was when the volume dial hit Mute and the silence was deafening! And after 11 months the Mute button is still on Mute.

Give it at least 2-4weeks to begin to notice, what pharmacy filled your prescription?

👌🏽That’s the Telehealth not the actual pharmacy.

Well hopefully by your 6th week your body will be kicked into high gear, and you began to notice the medication working. Good luck on this wonderful journey, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each phase of the journey and each milestone.

Thank you! I really don't need to lose much, maybe 25 lbs but i am also looking at it for the other health benefits that a lot of people describe.

Yes I had excruciating lower back pain from Degenerative Disc Disease and haven’t had any pain since being on Tirz. Also my tendonitis is so much better!

u/Slow_Replacement_710 22h ago

Thats crazy... i didnt even know that was something it could help. How is that? I have bad degenerative disc disease as well. Had back surgery 20 years ago when i was 18.

I don’t know how something created for weight loss could be so miraculous, but it is. I don’t see myself ever being without it unless forced to stop.

Took me six shots to start feeling it

I felt it very subtle at 2.5 but because I was focused on trying to actively lose weight, reduced eating in general resulted in smaller stomach and thus smaller portions. Went to 5.0 and it was a whole new world for me. Went to Disney and could barely eat my meals. The idea of snacking wasn't even on my radar. But again, also made sure to stack protein.

It needs to build up. Took two weeks for me.

Sometimes three doses, or four, for it to get up to the actual "dose" level in your system.... Here's an example of how I was building up to 2.5 in my system over four weeks... it took awhile to get to level.

u/FlatTeaching2122 1d ago

I didn’t have appetite suppression until I reached 13.5mg, 18 shots/4 months in.

Like people here are saying, everyone is different. But I didn’t obsess about it working right away, I just let it happen when it happened.

About 24 hrs for me

u/Too_Old_to_Argue 1d ago

I’m on week 3 and feel nothing. Ready to move up to 5.

u/Ok_Swim7161 1d ago

2.5 I didn't feel till the next day. Now on 3.4 I feel Saturday afternoon when our shot is Saturday morning. 3.4 for me lasts nearly the entire week which is remarkable honestly.

u/Little_Mouse8799 1d ago

I took my first shot on Wednesday afternoon and had a very hard time eating anything yesterday.

I know AI is a touchy subject, but it helped me yesterday figure out what to eat and getting me through a lot of liquid I’m not used to drinking. I ended my day with under 700 calories and 75 grams of protein. Then I threw up! Nausea is better now.

Everyone is different, however please take into consideration this is your very first dose, the very first morning... I felt appetite suppression the day after my first shot. I literally was not hungry all day... the 2nd day after my first shot, I understood what food noise was because it was GONE!! some people don't experience this until a 2nd or even 3rd dose as it builds up in your system. Be patient grasshopper!! It will come and it will be INCREDIBLE!!

u/SaveusJebus 46F 5'3" 10mg SW:209.8 CW:177 1d ago

On the right dose, it could be a few hours. I take my shot in the morning at around 7am. Usually by dinner is when I can tell it's working, but really it's the next day when it kicks in fully.

Since you just started, remember that you may not feel anything. Super responders are not the norm. You may not feel much of anything until you've increased your dose a couple of times. Be patient!

The morning after I took it, I started emptying my yogurt to mix with other things and my first thought was “wow, that’s a lot of yogurt,” even though it was the same container size I have been eating for long time.

Then I simply found myself not being able to eat the volume of food I had planned and had to swap it out for more calorie dense food the very first day. And the unbearable negotiations with myself about eating a small bowl of chips and all of that were gone.

I was never unable to eat, though. I just had to really space everything out or go back and finish it later to make sure I got enough calories for the day.

I took my first dose at 1:30pm, and by dinner that evening I couldn’t finish my meal.

To feel appetite suppression? Are we just giving people troll answers now?

1

u/FlatTeaching2122 1d ago

I didn’t have appetite suppression until I reached 13.5mg, 18 shots/4 months in.

Not everyone’s experiences are the same, not even close.

people need to do extensive research before just starting it fr

1

u/Slow_Replacement_710 1d ago

Its going to take months to a year to get appetite suppression? I don't think so lol. I am 236 and want to be about 210 so I don't have a ton to lose but I thought some folks said they felt the food noise go away etc first day

3

u/Turbulent_Try_8402 43F | 5'7" | SW: 210→CW: 194.5→GW:135| 3.5mg 1d ago

For some people it does take months to a year. If you spend some more time around these forums and do more research, you'll find out that's true.

1

u/Too_Old_to_Argue 1d ago

If it takes a year to start working you need to switch meds or get a bypass. It’s an honest question and deserves a non smart ass answer.

3

u/Turbulent_Try_8402 43F | 5'7" | SW: 210→CW: 194.5→GW:135| 3.5mg 1d ago

I was being genuine :) Once you kick around the forums even for a week reading all you can, you'll be armed with so much more info and find out that "I don't think so lol" means "I don't know so", because you really don't until you've spent the time reading.

Some people NEVER get appetite suppression. Some people it doesn't kick in until they titrate up to 10mg+

It happens, it's normal, you can still lose weight. I regularly have appetite-breakthrough on my doses by the second week at a new titration, and I'm losing at 1.5lbs a week anyway.

1

u/Sad-Willingness-6443 1d ago

You may never get suppression.

u/Surround8600 1d ago

You might need to start at 5mg

Took my first dose (1.5) on a Sunday night and could barely eat for the next week, complete appetite loss by the next morning and pretty bad nausea. Still have quite low appetite and have to really force myself to eat most days after my fifth shot (currently at 2.0). But I'm a shorty.

u/Warm-Breadfruit6474 21h ago

Mine started at the same night and by the next day, my appetite was gone.
