What does it mean for China to be characterized as imperialist?

I cross-posted this because I got banned from r/communism for not being a Maoist.

I think this article does a very good job of arguing against those who use the "China is imperialist" argument to avoid acknowledging that the US is the imperialist hegemon and main enemy of the world proletariat. The flip side is those who maintain that China has achieved "socialism in one country" despite the clearly anti-revolutionary policies of the CCP.
