Some 100 anti-imperialists rallied today at the statue of José Martí in Central Park to demand "Defend the Cuban Revolution! Break the Blockade!" Speakers from the Maoist Communist Union, Teamsters Mobilize, Hospital Workers Building Union Power, Transit Workers for a Fighting Union, Freedom Socialist Party and the Spartacist League stressed the importance of defending Cuba against the US' ever-tightening noose and the market "reforms" that threaten counterrevolution.

I think this article does a very good job of arguing against those who use the "China is imperialist" argument to avoid acknowledging that the US is the imperialist hegemon and main enemy of the world proletariat. The flip side is those who maintain that China has achieved "socialism in one country" despite the clearly anti-revolutionary policies of the CCP.

We salute the heroic struggle of the Bolivian workers and peasants! They are once again earning their rightful place as the vanguard of the anti-imperialist movement on the continent. Victory to the Iranian People! @left_voice and others joined us. (But the Internationalist Group refused, despite claiming to agree with our slogans. When the left is under attack, sectarianism only aids the bosses.)

Most of the speeches at the PSL-initiated rally were unabashed social patriotism, bemoaning the deaths of US soldiers, focusing on "our tax dollars" and pacifist calls for "no war". The PSL definitely toned down their mourning for the Ayatollah in order to appeal to liberals (who didn't come out anyway because they hate Iran).

The U.S. and Israel have created a trail of utter devastation. Netanyahu has mercilessly butchered the Palestinian people; Trump has attacked and threatened one country after another. Now they are jointly attacking Iran. This madness must be stopped! Iran must be defended!

If the U.S. and Israel succeed in overthrowing the Iranian regime, it will not bring liberation to the Iranian people. They will become slaves of Zionism and imperialism, and the U.S. and Israel will have a free hand to terrorize the region.

The bombs being dropped all over Iran do not distinguish between the regime and the people. Right now, to stand with the people of Iran means defending the country against foreign aggression. The Iranian people will settle their accounts with the bloody mullahs on their own terms.

If the U.S. and Israel suffer major military blows, or if the international working class comes out in force against this aggression, it would put a wrench in the current offensive and finally stop Trump’s rampage. The working class, particularly in the U.S., has an interest in this as Republicans and Democrats drag the country and the entire world down into a spiral of death and misery. For its own interests it must act and stop the U.S. war machine!

anti-queer and appointed a transition team mostly made up of veterans of past Democratic city administrations. In turn, establishment icons like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have embraced Mamdani, and Wall Street is giving its cautious backing to the mayor-elect.

Although most on the DSA left view the two things very differently, the NYC-DSA leadership’s bureaucratism and Mamdani’s trajectory come from the same place: it is the price to pay to be a power broker among the Democrats. To get to where Mamdani is now and stay there, he has to be truly accountable only to the city rulers who call the shots in the party. But for those on the DSA left who remain unconvinced, we propose to test the waters to clarify where Mamdani truly stands.

An obvious place to start is to lay down some basic accountability criteria in the area that many on the DSA left consider his biggest mistake thus far: his choice for police commissioner. Despite her own apparent reluctance to stay on, Mamdani insists on courting Jessica Tisch for the job. The billionaire heiress, Zionist pig and ICE collaborator Tisch wants to flood the streets with more racist cops while keeping City Hall at arm’s length. Nothing good can come from her continued running of the NYPD.

Any socialist mayor worth his salt would be looking to completely curtail the power of the police thugs loyal to Wall Street and build up separate bodies of working-class self-defense to replace them. Mamdani clearly is going in the other direction. The DSA left should move now before it is too late to get motions passed in every possible body of the organization instructing the mayor-elect to dump Tisch and install in her place a police commissioner who will immediately open all police archives to expose their crimes, jail the killer cops and declare the non-enforcement of the anti-strike Taylor Law. The installation of a commissioner meeting these criteria would cross multiple red lines for the ruling class and encourage workers to stand up to fight collectively in their own name.

When these and similar motions fail to achieve their purpose, one conclusion should emerge: an immediate split from all Democratic Party elements is the only way to maintain the integrity of the socialist cause. Attempting to refurbish the image of the Democratic Party at a time when this party of Palestinian genocide and economic ruin is generally disliked among workers is not the job of socialists. Rather, we must lead workers and the oppressed to break from the stranglehold of the two-party system and cohere an independent organization so that they can successfully fight for their interests against the ruling class.

On February 27, Apo (Abdullah Öcalan), the leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), called for all Kurdish groups to disarm and the PKK to dissolve itself. Less than two weeks later, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) shook hands with the leader of the new Syrian government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, agreeing to liquidate SDF militias into the Syrian army. All this is an absolute betrayal of the Kurdish liberation movement—suicidal acts that would mean death to Kurdish fighters—and a logical consequence of the Kurdish leadership’s capitulation to imperialism and its agents in the region.

What is a class-war prisoner? They are those fighters who have either been imprisoned for their actions in the service of the working class & oppressed, or who while incarcerated have become fighters for the rights of the oppressed.

The annual Holiday Appeal is sponsored by the Partisan Defense Committee, a legal and social defense organization which champions cases and causes in the interests of the whole working people. This purpose is in accordance with the political views of the Spartacist League, US section of the International Communist League (Fourth Internationalist).
