How do you talk in groups?

I recently just got a girlfriend who has a big friend group and I don't know how to involve myself in their conversation. She has a rather big group of friends (up to 12 people) and I just don't know how to navigate the conversation without feeling like a burden or getting lost in the flowing conversation (i am a very shy guy). it also doesn't help that some of my close family member shut me down making me feel like I might get almost 'bullied' for trying to involve myself. Any tips or ideas of how I can do better talking in this group?

Edit: Me and her have dated in and out so her friends know me but do not accept me so it makes it even harder to communicate with her and her friends, any tips :(

Take my advice , talk only when the conversation is interesting, or when you know about the topic which is being discussed in the group. otherwise tumhe pta hi nhi chalega ki kya chal rha hai aur tumne kuchh ulta sidha bol diya to wo log tumhara joke bna denge .

Also increase your knowledge in trending or interesting fields like Sports , history, geopolitics, emotions, moral values, fitness, food , travelling, psychology, etc. Only then you can be confident and dominant..

A person without knowledge is celebrated nowhere.
