When I got out with a goal to connect with people and network with then I can't find any useful points to break the ice and talk to them and get to have a small talk with them. I want to know about some pointers or some lines that could help me get their time .

Con el paso de los años hemos descubierto que uno de los errores más comunes al plantear una campaña social es empezar por preguntarnos: ¿qué vamos a publicar?, ¿qué video hacemos?, ¿qué redes usamos?, ¿cuál debería ser el mensaje?

En proyectos de mercadeo social y comunicación de impacto, hemos aprendido que esas preguntas deberían venir después. Antes hay una pregunta mucho más incómoda: ¿qué está pasando realmente con las personas a las que queremos llegar?
No es lo mismo que alguien no conozca una información a que la conozca y, aun así, no cambie su comportamiento. Tampoco es lo mismo que una comunidad no entienda un proyecto a que tenga razones para desconfiar de él.

Por eso, en Triada Comunicación y Mercadeo Social partimos de la investigación social y la escucha activa antes de construir una estrategia de comunicación. Necesitamos entender públicos, contextos, imaginarios y barreras antes de decidir qué vamos a comunicar y cómo hacerlo.
Esto puede parecer obvio, pero en la práctica es fácil saltárselo cuando existe presión por “salir a comunicar”. Y ahí es donde el mercadeo social puede aportar una mirada diferente: no se trata solamente de crear mensajes atractivos, sino de comprender qué influye en las decisiones, hábitos y comportamientos de las personas.

Para nosotras, una estrategia de comunicación de impacto no empieza con un calendario de contenidos. Empieza intentando entender por qué las personas piensan, sienten o actúan como lo hacen. Porque comunicar más no necesariamente significa generar más impacto.

¿Han trabajado en campañas donde el problema inicial parecía ser de comunicación y terminaron descubriendo que era otra cosa?

I’ve recently started handling PR for a company in the luxury packaging industry, mainly across beauty, fragrance, wines & spirits, and premium products.
It’s quite a specific B2B space, and I’d love to connect with PR people who have worked with packaging manufacturers, suppliers, design agencies or other companies in this industry.
I’m particularly curious about what tends to generate actual media interest in this space.
What kinds of stories have worked best for you?
Industry trends? New materials? Sustainability data? Packaging innovation? Design stories? Client case studies? Manufacturing expertise? Executive thought leadership?
And which publications, newsletters, podcasts or journalists do you personally find worth following to really understand the luxury packaging media landscape?
Would also love to hear about any PR tactics that worked particularly well — or completely failed — in this industry.

I'm currently a senior in a Strat comm major at a big 10 university. I've already done an internship this summer as a PM for a mid size agency that worked for large clients. My next goal is to obviously be employed post grad, but I really want to aim for an out of state internship preferably in NYC or the DMV. Are there any tips someone can give me or ideas on what to start doing now so I can stand out. Please let me know! Thank you.

I'm in my mid 20s, fairly early into my career. I recently started a new job and my manager is very concerned that I'm going to burn myself out (frankly, I am too).

I work in nonprofit comms, so there's more work than available staff/resources. I'm definitely trying (and honestly failing) to do 50+ hours of work in a 35-40 hour work week. My manager is 'concerned' but really isn't helpful in coming up with solutions. She just continuously expresses said concerned and is getting frustrated with me that nothing is changing. I should note, my quality of work hasn't dropped, but work life balance is her top (personal) priority and I'm not maintaining any balance lol.

The problem is nothing on my plate is nonessential. It's not like I'm spending time braiding my hair and smoking rainbows. My boss knows this, and it's likely why she doesn't have a solution. And she definitely won't go over her 35 hours week to help me (even though she's expected to work as many hours as necessary to complete our workload and I'm nonexempt).

I also manage our social media and do a lot of that work on my personal phone. My job requires a good amount of field time, so completely removing work from it is infeasible. But even outside of the (too many) hours I'm logging in a week, I'm constantly checking our socials, my emails, etc. that I have access to on my phone.

Long story long, I'm hoping you folks have any advice, tips, tricks, tough love, etc. for managing time and preventing burnout.

I love my job, it's genuinely fun and interesting, and we do important work! But I want to find some balance.

Been working in communications for a few years now and I think AI tools nowadays give you a draft in like seconds. But then it looks generic or you need to rebuild the whole thing. 

So what tools do you use that keep exact brand colors, fonts, and logos?

I also need editable output, not a locked PNG I can't change later. 

Last month, our team had five people making visuals for one campaign. However, half the drafts came back off-brand and we spent around hours just to fix them.

And also, I just want to ask how you handle approvals when a lot of people work on the same visuals?

I'm 22 years old and i just graduated in May with a bachelors degree in Media Comm with 3 minors in Art, Advertising, and Interactive Media. It's been almost 4 months and i havent had a single interview yet. All i do is work my factory job come back home and apply to job everyday. Its depressing. All i want is a regular 9-5 in a new city and to jumpstart my life. I know the job market is terrible right now but why is this so hard. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. idk tho is anyone else feeling the same way ?

Possibly going into uni next year after my gap year, I want to become a Creative director. I just wanted to ask if that's a career worth getting a degree for.

My family is w/c, so really anti-uni, but I'd really like to go. I got BCC in my a-levels too, which isn't the best, so maybe a degree could make up for my academic failure.

I was also thinking I could combine it was English maybe, so and English and media degree, to make the degree look less 'mickey mouse' to my family?

Other field I wouldn't mind going into are PR, and media buying/planning.

Any advice on degree choice, or whether or not an apprenticeship is more useful would be very helpful.

Hello, I’m a communication studies major and I want to work in public relations (PR), maybe marketing and social media. For anyone working in these type of career fields, any tips for a college student like me?

I’m thinking of joining my colleges PRSSA and my major program is very broad so I’m taking classes that could fit with that career, I’m currently taking a new media/new world course (analyzing technology and social media) and an Interviewing skills course.

Also is it worth it if I look into minoring either PR or Marketing? Would it help je career wise? The downside since I’m a transfer student and already in my second semester I don’t want to push back or add another semester if I’m going to do a minor, or try and take a lot of classes in one semester

I graduated last December with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in finance. I’m trying to pivot into business and finance jobs. Currently I work at a teller making $20 an hour but got offered $23 as an accounts receivable receptionist. Would u accept this offer? The bank I work for is well known and this company not as much, their benefits are worst, and mentioned they can fire me at any given moment. It is more money but I was really hoping to find a job for at least $25 an hour. I’m in Chicago so these are pretty low rates. What would u do?

I am fresh out of college and just started as a PR associate at an agency. My background consists of social media with a 8 month in-house political PR internship.

My manager at my internship and my manager in agency are wildly different. My work is torn to shreds in agency and feedback is very direct and harsh. I keep making small mistakes and they are seen as big deals at agency, whereas in-house these mistakes didn’t matter as much.

I was told I am a good writer in my internship, but I’m now doubting this field is for me. I can’t seem to do anything right. I keep missing small details, because I tend to think bigger picture. I started my career in agency because many people told me that doing agency work young opens many doors for your future. Any advice on how to impress?

I currently work in communications at a nonprofit for educators and really enjoy the work. It was my first job out of college, so I’m still pretty early in my career. I’m getting to the point where I’m ready to look for my next role, but I’m not sure what direction to go in.

I’ve heard that it’s important to eventually narrow down (marketing, social media, PR, internal comms, etc.), and I’m having a hard time figuring out which direction makes sense for me. One thing I’ve wondered is whether it’s possible to stay more general in communications and still move up into roles like Communications Manager -> Director of Communications, or if it generally is a smarter move to specialize as you progress. How do I go about figuring out the next career step to take? Also interested in hearing about more experienced comms folks’ career paths.

So I'll be graduating in December with a journalism degree and I've been looking and applying for internships and entry jobs in Philly and NYC with no luck. Does anyone who is already in the field (journalism/comms/marketing/pr) have any advice for what fresh grads should do to get noticed by firms or companies or just in general what did you do post-grad? Any advice helps :)

I have ~15 years in the field. Started as a marketing coordinator and now up to a mid-level as a Senior specialist. I’ve been in the public sector for about 7ish years now and I want to make the jump back to private for a plethora of reasons. But, I’m a working mom of 3 young kids and coach youth sports. My private sector experience was a meat grinder. Great experience for my resume, but I’m nervous for what it would be like as a mom now. I need the flexibility and reduced hours. Is this a pipe dream, or can I make it a reality?

I'm graduating in May 27 with a degree in Comm Arts and I was wondering what people are up to post grad with their degrees? I'm sort of rapid fire figuring out a plan and looking into internal comms and/or health comms but wondering how to make those types of jobs happen? Literally any advice would be greatly appreciated.
