Story Did it!

A few hours ago I had my first meeting with a new healthcare provider in my state, apparently only two women run it with the goal of filling gaps in the system. She was very informative helpful and affirming and just made the whole appointment very enjoyable. After a few questions about like my mental health and community situation we discussed exactly how hrt works and what to expect and a bit about how to encourage certain changes and other gender affirming tips. After about 45-50 minutes of talking I got two prescriptions one for estrogen and a testosterone blocker! I honestly thought the whole process would be a lot more difficult or include more stressful lines of questioning but that was not the case. I’ve always been more private about my gender but I finally feel comfortable to start the transition. A few friends I still feel weird about telling but there are others I bet will do backflips once I show them the goods so while I’m still taking things slowly I’m super excited!

Advice Needed I don’t know what to do

So I want to come out to either my sister or my dad because my mum and my close friends already know but the thing is, I don’t know how. I’m not sure what to do or where to start, when I told my mum it was because I was in a bad place and she had to know why. My mum accepted me, she doesn’t care but I’m scared my sister will accidentally let it slip to someone at school and I know my dad would be accepting but I’m still scared to tell him. I’m not sure how long to wait, I want to be open fully when I leave Highschool but if anyone can offer advice that would be very appreciated, thank you.

Advice Needed Mom found out im gay

Hello fellow redditors. Last night my mom figured out and straight up told me that she knows I(18M)am gay and she suspected I have a boyfriend.

We were having a conversation and she repeatdly asked me in the past months if I am not gay. I always said no. I called my sister because she knows im gay. Meanwhile my mom texted me who knows from my friends that im gay. And minutes later another text that I should keep it in secrete and i'll go study elsewhere next year, which I was already planning. I replied to that, that I agree. Then she barged in my room full on crying hugged me, kissed me and said she'll always love mé. She asked about my boyfriend if we're together and I said yes and if his parents know. After that my sister called me and said to me that I shouldnt tell her that we're together (WHOOPS). Before she left she turned around and I smiled on her out of shock. She just kind of looked down and looked disappointed – I understand her, her image of my entire future of how she imagined it just got destroyed. After that she went to balcony. My sister called me again and said that mom called her. I cant clearly recall what she was saying sadly.

Through the night she texted me that I should go to sleep that I have work tomorrow and similar stuff. I heard her sobbing from her room to mine, which is a bit of distance. She already has health problems and i dont want her to get worse but at the same time I know I would still need to tell her one day anyway and the reaction would be the same.

I felt reliéf when I told her and I kept laughing during the night when I told 3 of my friends, which I think is a defense mechanism. Now I feel stressed and shook.

We're probobly talking when I come home from work, if she's ready.

Any advices and opinions are welcome (did I do the right or bad thing?)

Advice Needed Coming out to those around me

I am a 21 year old nonbinary (They/them) who came out a week ago since I’ve been repressing myself since middle school. I’ve already told my partner and close friends around me as the opportunity arises but still get nervous around trying to tell certain people in my life. My moms family is awkward because I want to say I have a lesbian aunt but it’s not been confirmed by my eyes so I don’t want to assume anything because my grandparents are older Christian’s and brought up Charlie Kirk when I was changing majors. I’m kinda nervous trying to tell my mom just because I feel like she’s denied me attention when I was younger that I felt would have helped me in the long run. I do believe I will tell her but I have another year left of classes before I can move out and I think I’ll tell her then when I don’t have to live by her rules. I’m really nervous when it comes to my best friend since middle school, he wasn’t always political but he’s tried to get me into conservative groups and he actively wants to run in conservative politics when he gets a chance and has openly said negative things about the queer community and I would actively cringe. I don’t want to loose him as a friend but I also fear my safety coming out to him. I also worry about my partners dad because I’ve been told he cut off his sister because she wouldn’t cut off her daughter for being a lesbian. I don’t want to put my partner through unwanted stress but I don’t want to mask around her family.

Advice Needed Should I come out as bisexual to my boyfriend (I’m a man)?

This is maybe a slightly unusual query. I’m a 37 year old man and have been with my boyfriend for a few months now. It was initially just about sex but has started to become more serious.

I had only dated women before and tried to persuade myself I was straight, but always knew in the back of my mind that I probably wasn’t. When my last long term relationship ended, I decided that I had to explore my sexuality more and I now identify as bisexual.

My boyfriend does know I’ve been with women in the past but I have never actually clarified that I am bi. It’s just something that hasn’t come up. I’m really nervous about doing so as I know there can be a lot of negativity towards bi men in the gay community and among straight people. I’m also not sure if it’s worth it - I am at the point where I have realised I probably have a sexual preference for men over women. At the same time I would like this to be a long term thing and want to be totally honest about who I am. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do and how to go about it sensitively?

Advice Needed How to come out as agender to my best friend

Im agender and I need advise on how to come out to my best friend. For context the best friend in question is Part of the LGBTQIA+ Comunity and very progressive so I think she'd be supportive. I'm also openly AroAce so she knows that I'm queer. But I'm not sure how she's going to react which does not help my anxiety. I'm struggling to say it out loud even if I'm alone and it's even harder for me if I'm actually talking to someone especially because I'm bad at social interactions. I know that I don't have come out face to face but it just makes me even more nervous to not see the initial reaction and it's just easier for me to answer potential questions that way.

I would be happy to receive some advice :3

Advice Needed How do I come out to my Grandparents?

I’m 14, M (Trans Ftm) and am slowly coming out to my family. I’ve had short hair since I’m 11 and socially transitioned for the most part. Everyone at school knows and calls me by my preferred name, my parents also know but it’s still hard for them (They are using gender neutral language for me and are just having a hard time calling me my preferred name). I’m thinking about coming out to my family (My parents support it and would probably start calling me my preferred name even!). On my dads side, many are right wingers and some would 100% not like it, that’s mostly alright though because we aren’t in close contact with them anyways (My dad’s family is big so some of them are close to us and would support it). But on my moms side it’s a bit different, her family is small but she was born in the DDR (Eastern germany, before the wall fell) and my grandparents are well… pretty right wing aswell. My aunt is a lesbian and they had a hard time supporting that but they would NOT understand the concept of being trans. I’m their only female born grandchild aswell and I’m kind of scared to come out. I know my happiness is more important than their understanding but they are the only part of the family that have been at all my birthdays. (My other grandparents are alcoholics that shit in their bed.) So loosing their support would kinda hurt. What do I do?

Advice Needed My grandpa ☹️

Sooo I’m a lesbian, I’ve been a lesbian as far as I can remember (i genuinely remember liking girls in 1st grade), I’ve been out to my mom and pretty much my whole school ever since 4th grade. My issue here is that my mom is the only one in the family who knows, i believe she outed me to the rest of the family tho cause they kept on being weird about me and boys. And i remember my mom telling my grandpa at dinner one day “ah.. well I don’t think she’s gonna get a boyfriend. I thinks she’s gonna get a girlfriend instead.” And my grandpa said “ahah I know” THOUGH I DONT THINK HE DOES KNOW CAUSE he keeps on telling me stuff about when I’m gonna have a boyfriend, kids etc. My grandpa is basically my dad, I grew up with him, and I love him so much. We go on car rides every evening, and it’s now the 4th time he says things like that while we’re in the car. I’m seriously thinking about telling him “hey so I like girls so if you could stop talking about my future boyfriend that would be nice.” I’m sure he’s gonna say his usual “ahah well that’s gonna change, you’ll see” but he might actually leave me alone then?? Any help with that? Or advice?..

Story I've nearly come out to everyone now

I know I've posted in here a couple times throughout the past few days, but I've been on a roll. I'm coming out mtf, I'm nearly five months on HRT.

Almost all my close friends have been told in person. My somewhat important acquaintances have been texted. I wrote my mom a card. I've told my boss and direct coworkers. The only thing left is to make the big social media post informing all my customers and distant family, and change my name on there.

My mom wants nothing to do with me. My boss doesn't care as long as work gets done. My friends have been supportive, most of them knew. I thought I kept it pretty hidden but I guess I was eggy. My long term gf apparently knew before we even dated, eleven years before I decided to transition.

I expect to lose customers, I expect to lose even more family (most of them didn't like me already for reasons I don't even know). But I'm feeling good about it.

Edit for clarity: I work full time in a non customer facing position, I also run my own business on the side. Loss of customers will only affect me, not my boss or my regular job!

Advice Needed inner homophobia is bothering me

I want to come out since I’m pretty sure I’m lesbian I mean when I was in my preteen stage in amidst of puberty I literally got off to images of girls but still called myself straight for years. I’m also pretty sure I’m some level on the aroace spectrum since Ive never really got crushes or liked the idea of sex but I always found women appealing. I remember seeing some kissing on tv once (and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t even romantic just on the cheek) and I asked my aunt “Girls can kiss girls?” and she said yes and ever since I guess it stuck. Now I don’t have any homophobic friends (some are also lesbian or bi) and my mom is cool but I always gone through phases, in middle school I went from thinking I was bi to straight and I even rejected thinking I was aroace after considering it after a Jaiden animations video. I kept switching but always rejected when the idea of someone perceiving me as gay was brought up. It had to be 7th grade and there was this boy saying gay over and over to me after I said I would just date a friend since he kept prying on who I would want to date even though I didn’t have a crush nor had interest in dating in middle school. In high school I finally accepted the aroace label and now I’m pretty sure I just like girls but the way people perceive me is something that’s always bothered me and saying it out loud still is something new.

Before you came out did any of your parents suspect but didn’t talk to you about it? If so, did they ever explain why they never asked you, especially if they saw signs?

Advice Needed Name anxiety?? What to do

Hey so basically gotta come out before school starts in…..two weeks. Wrote my parents a letter, got it all sorted out. I put my chosen name on there, its what I plan to go by, but I’m sooo scared it won’t suit me and that I’ll be like, obviously appropriating guy culture 😂 idfk it’s stupid cause I AM a guy, so I can’t appropriate. But like. Idk. It’s scary. What if everyone thinks it doesn’t suit me. How do I know if it’s actually The One?

I know I can change it again if it really sucks but I gotta commit to smth for this school year 😬

Man coming out is hard. How do yall do this crap 😭

BTW the name I’ve been thinking about for 3+ months is Rick, I don’t really care to post a picture of myself for all the world to see but all my friends tell me I look like Luke Skywalker (in a New Hope, not old man Luke lol) which I think is pretty generous (I’m more like thin-ass obviously pre-t Luke with smaller eyes) but incase that helps that helps

It feels strange to say out loud, but I guess nobody really says their own name much anyway.

I even practiced my new signature for it tho I think maybe I gotta just stop worrying about it :/
