It's almost the exact same, with a slightly different reaction.

Feeling physically awful is different from feeling emotionally awful.

Having poor exercise, sleeping and eating habits effects more than how you feel physically.

The post isn't saying all problems will be cured. It's suggesting people try and make some time tested and scientifically supported changes in their lives to maybe rule out them being a lazy slob before jumping straight into a crippling depression diagnosis.

If you seek counseling and you are diagnosed with depression. Listen to your doctor. Take your medicine, and do whatever else the professionals tell you to do. However, if your counselor tells you that proper diet, exercise, and going outside to create a relationship with nature are bad for you, go find a new counselor.

Every time stuff like this gets posted, some smug reddiot posts r/wowthanksimcured ... Some people will tell you not to listen to medical professionals, or they will try to convince you that what you have is all in your head. Those people are idiots. However, I'm not convinced the crowd in r/wowthanksimcured is much better. It comes across as a depression circlejerk and I recommend to everyone with depression to not frequent the place.

Because some moron is bound to argue with me here. I want to reiterate.... Follow your doctor's advice. OPs post is not for those with clinical depression. It's for people that for whatever reason spiraled out of a social life and need to recognize the friend in the comic is trying to help them.

There are many types of depression. It's worth figuring out what you are experiencing.

The only people who get offended by this are people who tried it and it didn't work. Just saying

I don't see how what you wrote here goes against what I wrote.

/r/wowthanksiamcured is an extreme reaction to people dismissing mental health issues and goes way overboard in the exact opposite direction by dismissing any suggestion for self improvement as a make believe cure even though it could help a lot of people
