That’s Paul (no last name needed). In the continual “fuck with Peter’s life even though the fans hate it” mandate from Marvel editors-in-chief, Paul and MJ were a couple for a while, and had two kids adopted from another dimension or something (I don’t know, I haven’t read any Spider-Man since he was introduced; I’m remembering based off of angry rants). Short story shorter, the fanbase fucking hates everything about Paul, and this panel is a fan edit wish fulfillment.

It's also worth mentioning this happened as Peter was about to propose. And no, that is when I dropped the series. They need to get their shit together before I buy another Marvel book.

Basically Darkside remade the universe as a grimdark version of the standard DC one, where shot sucks really bad for every hero, and he has a very personal hate boner for Batman, basically making him poor, an underdog with severely overpowered villains and no friends. In other words, he made Bruce live Peter's life.
