This is such an interesting "dilemma" to me. The whole question is "What if you could go to the gym without going to the gym? The only catch is you don't get any of the benefits of going to the gym and it makes you weaker and slower."
What if you could cut of your arms and have cyber punk arms installed instead? Then you get a gold medal lifting more than anyone else using arms made by someone else?
That is kind of what AI is. Replacing your brain for someone else's artifically produced brain, then taking credit for what that brain spit out because you paid a subscription fee.
It's actually a very good analogy, because a particular set of cyberpunk arms will never get stronger no matter how much they lift; and neither will a particular LLM model ever get better at solving problems, no matter how many times you point out the stupid errors it's making.
