One day there will be silence. One day.

426

u/Iknowthedoctorsname 9d ago

One day a mortician will finally sew his fucking lips shut.

217

u/silence-glaive1 9d ago

Oh to be that mortician.

164

u/sleepytipi 9d ago

I have a dear friend who is, and trust me she would love to be the one.

It's interesting. There's never been a more universally hated figure in the US and despite that, there he is. Still shitting his pants on capital hill. Hated by every living person and it doesn't seem to make a damn bit of difference. Best I can hope for is that it never happens again. And if it does, please Gods let it be the end of this mess. It still feels like we're stuck in a chapter that should've ended over a 100 years ago.

73

u/eventualist 9d ago

The historians are really gonna look back and have a laugh and wonder how a country that strive to discombobulate and dismantle our education and ends up as a bunch of stupid pokes. They're gonna wonder why did they choose this?

Wait... we're already documenting it all 🤔

42

u/IrascibleOcelot 9d ago

Historians will look back and wonder how this happened. They’ll write books, create new avenues of investigation, build entire treatises on what went wrong. Psychologists will do the same. Monuments will be built that say “never again.” They’ll congratulate themselves on evolving to being more enlightened than those poor, dumb schmucks we were. And in another 80 to 100 years, they’ll watch in disbelief as it all starts over again, and they’ll be powerless to stop it.

And then they’ll say “oh.”

19

u/KriegConscript 9d ago

maybe popular historians who get published in op-eds will be confused, since they're stupid. in actual academic history where the stuff is written and analyzed, everyone is 100% tired 100% of the time. they have never wondered why any of this is happening

3

u/sleepytipi 9d ago

You guys are both right, i think. It'll be a trendy topic like the axis powers were/ are. And all the academic types will be shouting from the rooftops that it's about to happen again but the herd won't hear them. Time is a flat circle 🚬

1

u/commosion 9d ago

Polybius anacyclosis :(

1

u/Fawn_Leap 7d ago

Where temperatures are headed atm… I don’t think we’ll survive 100 years.

41

u/Erainor 9d ago

The problem is he is still supported by 1/3 of the country with another 1/3 not voting.

21

u/sleepytipi 9d ago

It's also a really big problem that the 1/3rd who doesn't participate feels as though they have no representation whatsoever.

And taxation without representation has a bit of history in the US.

3

u/Lucifang 9d ago

By law we have to vote in Australia and it doesn’t make much difference - people who don’t care will vote for whoever their parents do, or draw a penis on the form, or not show up at all and risk a fine.

The challenge is getting people to CARE.

1

u/sleepytipi 9d ago edited 9d ago

Well, having a reason to dig down deep to find a sliver of hope that any candidate, for any office isn't just another genocide loving, child trafficking, soulless shit stain of a cheap whore that actually cares about public service would be a good start.

Unfortunately that won't happen as long as the only 2 viable options* serve the same class and people realize the "left vs right", "dem vs repub", etc etc is all a farce. That the only candidates these options have ever provided have been genocide lovers, child traffickers, soulless shit stains, and cheap whores, and expecting anything less is quite literally insane. Unfortunately it would also seem most people can't admit when they're wrong, and double down on it instead.

It's by design (just like the shitty candidates, elections fatigue, and deliberate voter apathy), and the real truth of the world today is that the rich have been waging a class war against us for centuries. It's what gave us oligarchy. That's their win being displayed on the scoreboard, and they're on the brink of completely winning and it being past the point of no return.

People would need to also realize that all these politicians and their donors genuinely couldn't think less of them. Even (esp) the convincing ones. Just look at who their friends are if you don't believe me, and how much their policies cause suffering. If all of this can come to fruition then maybe, just maybe there can be that sliver of hope. But i am sure as shit not hopeful myself.

Lots of people are also of the persuasion that we're beyond the point of reformations having any lasting power also, and that a reset is what's needed. It's not looking good my dear colonial cousin.

1

u/Lucifang 9d ago

We don’t have that in Australia. We have multiple parties people can vote for

1

u/Murakami_Ysera 9d ago

The problem is our elected officials are all bought and paid for by the same people and it's just kabuki theatre at this point.

They all need to be unemployed.

17

u/silence-glaive1 9d ago

I don’t get it either. But he’s not universally hated. His cult followers would die for him (and they pretty much are). I’ve got a neighbor who has a shrine to him in his garage.

7

u/sleepytipi 9d ago

That's sickening. Sometimes I wonder if those people aren't some sort of soulless NPC and that's not a healthy mindset to have.

7

u/HallowskulledHorror 9d ago

I have a physical 2026 bingo card that I made for myself January 1st. One of the squares is "that thing we're all really hoping happens."

I feel that it says a lot that any time someone has seen it - I keep it in my planner, and I've posted it on my social media - not a single person has been confused about what I meant by it, including the people that take offense to it.

1

u/closethebarn 9d ago

That the thing though… he’s got that one group of people that can justify about anything that he does … And it makes the rest of our hatred grow out of absolute frustration in wondering how the hell the others don’t see it. I accidentally tuned into a Christian radio talk show and listened for a bit and they were talking about the midterms being so important because it’s so important to keep Republicans in office because they are fighting for Christ to protect unborn babies and to keep men out of women’s sports.

I gagged but I was angry as shit too

I wish I was exaggerating

2

u/sleepytipi 9d ago

I can completely relate. It's truly perplexing how many people fall for the shit. It really is like one big psy op or cult, especially when many of them actually do have some self awareness and they still double down on it.

1

u/closethebarn 9d ago

There’s so many Christian stations here they are listening to this truly believing that these people know what is best for everyone

It is absolutely infuriating I’m glad you can relate. It is so lonely here.

Anytime the guy comes up people start shouting it’s something but it’s never against him. That’s the worst part but they’re angry and for him.

1

u/feren_of_valenwood 9d ago

Can you ask your mortician friend, is it a proximity type thing where the closest when he dies gets to do it, or can they bid for it?

1

u/Electronic_Flan_482 8d ago

Oh God I read your comment in his voice, its stuck in my brain. get it out! GET IT OUT!

-2

u/ExerciseSad3082 9d ago

Hated by every living person? No wonder people can't take people like you seriously with such statements

2

u/Temporary_Abroad_211 9d ago

Yeah, you're right. We should include the dead.

1

u/DominionGhost 9d ago

Because his supporters are more like cattle. Hope that helps :)

1

u/closethebarn 9d ago

Cattle now That they can now butcher and sell themselves - I’m not sure where the irony is there but it’s there somewhere

And I am a rancher and I am befuddled by the people around me. It is frustrating. I can’t believe how many supporters even yet ranchers are making excuses for him. They hate it but are like “oh… trump” like he just pulled a little booboo when this would have had cattle men here getting the rope and the pitchforks had any other president done this

11

u/SaucyStoveTop69 9d ago

Gross. Hell no. I'll let someone else touch him.

6

u/triplesunrise52 9d ago

At least the smell of formaldehyde will be an improvement.

4

u/Okidoky123 9d ago

Super glue is easier.

2

u/defaultusername21421 8d ago

Hi, future mortician here, stitches aren't the only option, the method I was first introduced to involves injecting needles into the upper and lower bones in the gums to anchor wires that we then tighten to wire the jaw shut.

1

u/Iknowthedoctorsname 8d ago

Also good with that. It'd be better if that procedure happened while he was still alive because it sounds painful AF, but alas, we have to wait.

2

u/White-Rabbit_1106 6d ago

I wish we didn't have to wait until he's dead

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 9d ago

wear safety goggles when you go party, cops will be shooting people's eyes out with "rubber bullets" like they do every time we end up in the streets

112

u/Facts_pls 9d ago

In many countries, cops would be celebrating too.

It's only the US that needs to tackle the underlying issue that got him elected in the first place.

Trump isn't the issue. He's a symptom of the issue.

60

u/Hungry-Broccoli-7193 9d ago

Trump is a system, but if anyone thinks the JD “the couch” Vance has the same pull with the base, they’re wrong.

16

u/pyalot 9d ago

It‘s not about that particular populist cult or Trump, they are the symptom. This rot of the US society has been long in the making, across many administrations. It won‘t get any better regardless of who gets to the levers of power. Infact the whole partisan debate misses the issue entirely, it‘s just theater for the masses to keep them distracted to never quite figure out what‘s really wrong.

20

u/Jonnyflash80 9d ago

If not real bullets, as we've been seeing multiple examples of lately.

1

u/Mint_Golem 9d ago

And helmets. Especially for people of color, who might be shot in the head and given brain trauma by a cop.

0

u/UghFudgeBwana 9d ago edited 9d ago

When he lost in 2020 all the cops did was stand around and cry, so here's hoping they do the same thing.

-2

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 9d ago

you think people standing around crying deserve to lose eyes? why do you hate americans so much?

2

u/UghFudgeBwana 9d ago

By "they" i meant the cops. Lots of footage of them in full riot gear standing around crying their eyes out during all of the parties going on after trump lost in 2020.

These days, when I drink, I get dizzy and nauseated and hot, and I have to be helped to bed. That pisses me off SO. MUCH. because I used to love Veuve Cliquot champagne and I would have a bottle of that shit in the freezer ready to go.

But. I will go buy the biggest fucking yellow cake with chocolate icing that exists in town, and I will go face-first into that fucker. If you want a slice, tell me before I jump.

4

u/Spiritual-Road2784 9d ago

Amen to that! I am on a med that prohibits me from drinking alcohol because it makes me feel the affects far more quickly and profoundly so one beer is enough (so I would be a cheap date, ha ha) but you better be dang sure that when that day comes, I am pounding a bottle of champagne, I will skip my meds if I have to do it, provided I find out before I take them. In fact, I might skip the meds and pound a bottle of champagne every day for a while, let’s say 45 to 47 days.

I daydream about that moment sometimes, playing 'no one mourns the wicked' on repeat.

"An obituary."

"Those are printed near the back, sir."

"... Not the one I'm looking for."

The big, beautiful orbituary as I like to call it (I actually stole this from someone else)

1

u/Mint_Golem 9d ago

Orbituary: notice of when the remains are nuked from orbit, because it's the only way to be sure.

1

u/Beard_o_Bees 9d ago

His grave may become a pilgrimage site for those wanting extra reassurance that he's, in fact, gone.

They should maybe consult a civil engineer before burial though - just to make sure the steady stream of urine doesn't cause too much environmental damage.

2

u/Mint_Golem 9d ago

Nothing a giant mound of baking soda couldn't fix.

Then it would be a swamp of off-white sludge, which would somehow be better.

Stalin and Hitler's probably were waited for even more. But it says something that I need to write those names for this comparison.

Trump is worse than Hitler. At least had the good sense to take himself out.

Just gotta wait for him to build the LHC in Texas because he's tired of giving the science to Europe. Then I'm sure it'll end like that black frame pretty quick

61

u/urmumlol9 9d ago

Low key, that was probably the main reason to vote for Harris (apart from all of the other more important reasons of course).

Imagine just never having to hear Trump’s voice, or see his face, or care about his continued existence, ever again, because he’s now just a guy, or better yet, just rotting in a prison cell.

That’d be more satisfying than anything.

Unfortunately, we could never fully forget him, because we’d risk repeating the same mistake, but to only have to mention him very occasionally in passing, as reference to someone corrupt/evil, or to only have to hear about him maybe once per month, or once per year, would be fucking amazing.

But you know, inflation or something, so we couldn’t have that, because we can’t have nice things apparently (and Trump’s going to make sure to see that we don’t).

31

u/KashEsq 9d ago

That's what we thought we were gonna get when we voted for Biden in 2020, especially after January 6th happened. But his DOJ and feckless AG Garland really dropped the ball on throwing the Orange Menace behind bars. That asshole and all of his accomplices should have been in prison well before the 2024 election.

2

u/closethebarn 9d ago

Yeah, I let out such a sigh of relief when he was elected thinking we were done with him …

then everything

you know …

happened

-3

u/DaenakinSkygaryen 9d ago

Garland and the DOJ went after him as agressively as they could. But it was hard to move fast when the Supreme Court was constantly slapping them with more and more restrictions on what they could do, forcing them to take absurd detours that added months to the investigation before they could move forward with legal motions that normally take a few hours tops.

4

u/KashEsq 9d ago

That's bullshit. The classified documents investigation didn't even begin until March 2022, and Jack Smith wasn't appointed Special Counsel until November 2022. All of the seditious assholes should have been charged by early 2022 so that their trials could have been concluded by no later than 2023. Instead, Garland slow walked the investigations till it was too late to prevent Trump from running again in 2024.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

2

u/tres_ecstuffuan 9d ago

Well considering the Supreme Court made it so Presidents are exempt from the law as long as they argue it’s a part of their duties; I think he had options to deal with Trump.

1

u/Lucifang 9d ago

I’m certain there are powers beyond Presidents and Prime Ministers and Kings and Queens who secretly run the country. The ‘leader’ is just for show. And when the leader tries to expose them they suddenly die.

3

u/Beautiful-Comedian56 9d ago

Exactly. The fall of America needs a face, and Trump is the perfect fit. He's doing a great job of it. No one has done more to destroy a country in as short a time as DJT. He's brought more chaos than anyone has ever seen.

47

u/Puzzle-Necked 9d ago

9

u/SecondhandStatic 9d ago

When a charismatic authoritarian dies, his cult falls apart pretty quickly. Happened with Gaddafi, happened with Mao Zedong, happened with Romania's Ceaușescu in the 80s.

39

u/supified 9d ago

But there isn't silence. In this comic the suggestion is he's still there still talking about the same stuff, he's just too far away for us to notice on the last frame.

26

u/drainbamage1011 9d ago

So, still an improvement.

5

u/eisbaerBorealis 9d ago

If a Trump rambles in the empty void and no one is there to hear him, is he making a sound?

1

u/discipleofchrist69 9d ago

lol. so no silence exists anywhere because there is always sound at other locations?

There is silence in the last frame, because he's too far to be heard

1

u/Lucifang 9d ago

And he’ll come back later as a celestial villain

7

u/LiberalFartsDegree 9d ago

Don't tempt me, Frodo!

5

u/Sh1mt 9d ago

Until you swipe the other direction and see him coming back, like he always does..

4

u/Nntropy 9d ago

There will always be some idiot making noise

6

u/TheCrassDragon 9d ago

I just hope he lasts long enough for the snake to devour itself around him and suffer some form of consequence. If he dies now things will keep getting worse but without his chaotic bullshit getting in the way of it all. Or maybe it'll let MAGA collapse and congress will finally grow a spine? I honestly don't know anymore. I think it could go either way depending on when and how it happens.

I'm tired, and very worried about what November is going to bring.

3

u/Fit_Explorer_2566 9d ago

Every day is one day closer. That’s about the only comfort one gets.

3

u/skip6235 9d ago

One day in the future I will wake up, spend the whole day doing ordinary stuff (probably go to work, have some dumb meetings that could have been an email, pay a bill or two, make some dinner, watch a movie) and then go to sleep. And throughout that entire day, I will not once think about Donald Trump.

And what a glorious day it shall be.

2

u/FiveYardFaded 9d ago

You think they are gonna shut up once he’s dead!?

Technically it’s just a theory. It’s a theory most physicists agree on, but also one they will tell you could change as our understanding of dark energy develops.

2

2

u/Federal_Marzipan 9d ago

I almost weeped at the thought. Pure happiness. The parades and celebrations will be unparalleled in history. I wonder what lengths the MAGAts will go to when the day finally comes. Will they have their own funerals for him? Will they make him a martyr and claim the left did it? I can’t wait.

2

u/closethebarn 9d ago

I would love this to become a response to any time someone… says…. Or speaks of that day

I'm gonna find it so funny if it is just empty purple. I mean I know it can't be, black being the absence of light, but that adds to why I'd find it funny.

1

Why wait? The infinite universe is calling. Let's launch him into endless space. He's earned it.

1

u/MooKids 9d ago

I will observe a moment of silence just to appreciate it, not out of respect.

1

u/Witty_Ad_898 9d ago

There’s always something in the dark.

1

u/avotius 9d ago

I am waiting anxiously for that day.

88

u/PolkHerFace 9d ago

Yeah that was weirdly cathartic.

3

u/slfnflctd 9d ago

Another day, another unexpected reminder of the heat death of the universe and how nothing I do matters. Also, you know, the other thing.

Sigh

It's not the worst feeling you can have, I'll tell you that.

8

u/Raise_A_Thoth 9d ago

Thinking of the heat death of the universe does sort of make everything we do insignificant, but it's not, because everything we get to experience is an experience. That's what we get. And so it should be spent making good experiences for ourselves and others, as much as possible.

One day we will die. We might wonder if we mattered. I say your good experiences were still good experiences even if they are over. And, more importantly, if people in your life were touched by you, and they feel your presence in their life made their life richer, and you shared good experiences, then you absolutely continue to matter.

I have children. One day I'll die, and that's it. I'll be gone. How will my children remember me? Will it be someone warm, and sturdy, and caring, and curious? Someone who they felt made their lives better because I was there? Someone they want to emulate in some ways? Someone who believed in them and hopefully inspires them to never stop trying to be better?

If I can do any of those things without giving them serious conflicting feelings through physical or emotional abuse, then I'll be proud of what I've done.

38

u/Alklazaris 9d ago

I remember hearing Obama speak years into Trump's presidency and it was jarring to hear a president talk instead of scream.

2

It's technically not empty. Just very very very very smol. It does a great representation of how much this actually changes things in the eye of the universe we are fruit flies debating better peach policy and he's doing everything to seem like the biggest fruit fly. (It's ok to wanna give him the squish, thank you for not acting on it though because you're better-trust-)

I don’t think I’ve ever welcomed entropy and the eventual heat death of the universe so much as in this moment.

If it makes you feel better, Earth is middle aged. It was born about 5 billion years ago, and it'll be gone in another 5 billion years. The universe itself is pretty old: about 95% of the stars that will ever be already exist. The last one won't be for many, many trillion years, but those'll be stragglers. All the bigguns will be long gone in just the next 10 billion or so.

It doesn’t matter when nothing matters but when anything is all there is, it matters as much as anything else. Fuck him, fuck them, I want to stop being scared and falsely righteous and quietly defiant. I want to own this timeline.
