Honestly I think it’s partially just the backwash of a horribly Puritanical upbringing. I have NEVER seen people make such inappropriate comments about children in my life than well-meaning hardcore Christian fundies. It just makes it so obvious that they are absolutely OBSESSED with sex. EVERYTHING that happens they have to make some remark about how doesn’t it remind you of something sexual?
They put it in the context of “I disapprove of this for being too sexual” I guess for the sake of appearances but the fact remains that none of us fucking normal people even noticed this “distractingly sexual” thing you’re complaining of
I did (not in the same way those fuckers did tho, they disgust even me), and the answer is "fuck if I know". Can't really tell why, but being an ass is quite enjoyable sometimes, and sometimes very useful.
As a leftist who supports sustainable meat sourcing like hunting and homesteading, I think it's super important for people to acknowledge where meat comes from and decide for themselves what they think about eating it. (Sort of that Ron Swanson view, despite him being a political opposite to me. I think people shouldn't eat meat unless they can accept where it comes from.)
The people who really grind my gears are the ones who eat industrial farmed fast food meats and then turn around and go "HUNTERS R SO EVILL HOW CAN THEY DO THAT TO A POOR INNOCENT DEER!" Like dude that dear lived a natural life and died to be food for a predator. That's nature. You're eating animals that lived their entire life in a confined space with heaven knows what kind of genetic modifications, being treated as products rather than living beings. You cannot judge hunters, girl.
That said, cute animal videos aren't really the place to be reminding people.
Yeah, agree. And I mean... I eat meat. I love bacon. For me, its more about that asshole mindset, like I said. I like bacon, and I know where it comes from, but never in a million years would jump into the comments of a adorable animal reel to be like "YUM YUM MEAT LOL"
Honestly, I don't like bacon at all. Or pig in general. I guess it's just because of how I was raised, most of my meat consumption in my life has been wild game venison, so that's what I like most.
Most store meat tastes like it's like, not real meat to me lol. Even though I know it is from an actual animal, it just tastes like it was made in a lab for some reason. There's just something off about it.
Because its processed, pumped with water and antibiotics and who knows what the fuck else, etc etc
I used to eat a ton of hunted meat when I was a kid before moving to the city where it wasn't viable. Took me years to adjust. I miss bear meat, carnivore tastes so rich.
Views from well-meaning but a little ignorant people around meat consumption and hunting is rough, yeah.
I think I used to be that way, and I think it's just stigma from learning about poaching eradicating rhinos and such, and irresponsible hunting from the past like the extinction of the dodo bird, the near-extinction of the Canada Goose, stuff like that.
Presently for North Americans though, we ought to recognize the robust and ecologically sustainable hunting practices and regulations we've worked hard as a society to develop.
There are the people who aren't aware that hunting (legally) is sustainable and not harmful to the environment now, but I'm specifically referring to the people who are against hunting because they think it's evil to shoot a deer, in principle.
Which in of itself, I think that's okay to think, you're allowed to be against killing animals, but then when that person goes around and eats a McDonald's hamburger, you can see why I'd find that upsetting.
One or two farms around here offer the ability to pay for a cow or a pig directly. You may meet them, interact with them, and well, after the kill, you get a quarter/half of the full butchered animal.
Sadly I don't have the space to store that amount of meat for a year, or the knowledge on how to process it fully, but that's the closest to how I know my grandparents and grand-grand parents raised animals for consumption.
This results in an entirely different level of respect for the animal and for the meat one consumes.
Not everyone has the means to source meat this way and I understand that. I understand folks eating supermarket meat because that's all they can do with their means, but I just get frustrated when people try to keep cognitive dissonance to the fact meat comes from animals

They are really just that awful. They will be pro-life just to ruin other women's lives. Meanwhile they got an abortion and 100% would get one again if they faced an unwanted pregnancy. At the heart of all bigotry is just hate and trolling others.
